Anyone who has never used HID love CFL. They have no clue what they are missing out on for a comparison.

I'd have to disagree also... I have 2 s51 400 watt HID's that did not veg as well as CFL. I'll be using them in Flower room along with CFL for spot lighting

Yes correct i know many growers on here growing with CFL and gettng quite decent yield....do you get more bang per watt with HPS per flowering...probably but hey everyone has there own preference !

Bang for the Buck... With $30 of CFL's and a power strip you can get same results on 4 plants as you would with 400 watt HID which is roughly $160-250 respectively. Power cost is also much lower with the CFL, A 400 watt HID runs between 8-10 amps meaning its actually consuming more like 800-1000 watts to run the ballast and bulb

Thre is no doubt HID is more efficient and easier to work with and produces better yield 'in general'.

that said, not everyone wants to be a fuckin industry...

I like CFL (and ya, I've grown under just about every light there is) because it grows me the amount of grass I need for personal use, in a small space, with heat being dispersed over a larger area. Not to mention a few odor eating CFL's and I have almost zero odor.. try that with HID.. yikes..

No, I love CFL.. for my home personal use, if I could use any bulb (and I could) I would stay with mixed CFL's.. Although I do admit I would make it 'prettier' to look at if I were going to upgrade.

I also veg with cfls, and have just recently switched to 600w HPS for flower and it does a much better job at penetrating the canopy!

However cfls can do the same when I surround the ENTIRE plant with them and put them like 2-3 inches away coils facing plant.

But I know have two chambers for veg/flower so constanly re-arranging two setups became waaayyy too time consuming.

And now that I only have one room to re-arrange its great, plus I adore the re-arrangment time because I love being arounf my plants and doing things that are productive and seeing results, sometimes with my big 600 watter I dont need to do anything for days and that makes me sad and bored hahaha...

cfl=gods gift to "go green" pot growing

Yea cfls are actually becoming more common to use. They have 250watt energy saving bulbs out. Those babies penetrat. I can run 4 250watters on 2 2in1 adapters and its bright as fuck. If u want to be simple n cheap. Buy a nice size cake pan, few small configurations, and u got a Hood.
