Changing Nute brands , Need Help!!!

I currently use dyna-gro for nutes and have never tried anything else. It has been pretty good to me but the accessibility has made me consider changing. I've always ordered nutes online but I want to support my local hydro store. I use an indoor 4x4 grow tent with LED and CFL combo lighting and ocean Forrest fox farm soil.

Please help me out and let me know what you have had success with?!??

just my opinion...i'd get rid of that fox farm soil and switch to a purely neutral medium. fox farm will cause more problems when using nutes because of its pre-existing minerals content. try sunshine #4 and some worm castings.

then i would like into brewing a tea. really cheap and easy and will keep your plants extremely healthy. that way you don't feed as often either. do a feed, tea, feed, tea or feed, tea, water, feed, tea, water schedule and you'll have very nice results. i use the alaska humisoil tea but there are a million recipes out there. then all you will need is a basic 2 part high quality nutrient like house and garden or canna.

good luck.

Sunshine #4 is double the price of what I use. Thanks for the info but I use a lot less nutrients because fox farm has so many and it has the worm castings and bat guano already in it. I usually don't have to nute until day 30 of first use of soil. You're suggesting me to double the price I pay for soil and buy castings to add plus I would have to use more nutes. I have not had a problem with soil or over fertilizing so maybe you should try Fox Farm!!! Just my opinion...

fox farms ocean forest is $25 for 1.5 cubic feet. sunshine is $41 for 3 cubic feet and $49 for 3.8 cubic feet. it's actually cheaper.

i prefer to have more control over what my plants eat. i also like a more organic base soil. no respected grower i know uses fox farm.

just my opinion though...

i didn't see the size difference, you're right. It would be more expensive to replace the ingredients that ocean forest provides though. I don't see what's wrong with the ingredients in fox farm?

What type of light set up do you use?

nice pics!

I like POTTER'S GOLD organic "super" soil.

I have tried many synth's and now SWEAR by HESI......I run a synth/organic AACT rotation (synth day then AACT day - repeat) on half the grow and organic only on the other half.

I run an Amino and a Fulvic (kelp based) supplement instead of Hesi's "SUPERVIT". In side by side testing my supplement gave better results.

Read this for more on the organic's. The chapter on AACT's is worth the price of the book alone!
