Hi im trying to lower my costs for each crop and i was looking for alternatives to lower my tap water ph . Currently i am using blue sky organics ph down which is a powder and also a liquid ph down from root farm. Both cost me a fair amount after i ph all the water for all of my plants. Can anybody suggest a cheaper way to lower ph of tap water . My tap water PH is around 7.5-8.0

Go to amazon and buy some bulk citric acid, cheap, effective, lasts forever. You just need a tiny bit per gallon. Probably exactly the same kind of powder you used to pay more for.

Lately I have been aerating the nute solution using an old aquarium pump and stone. I start off with tap water with a ph of 7.2 and I have found I can drop the ph significantly by just aerating it…actually too much, so I have to limit the aeration.
I started aeration to add oxygen to the roots, lowering the ph was a surprise. Anybody else try this?

I think you got that backwards. Aerating the water should increase the pH if anything.

Thats what I read when I looked into it. PH should go up with water aerating. Maybe its dropping because I am aerating the nute solution?. I mix it in a pail and then aerate overnight.

The nutrients is probably what's lowering the pH. Do you check pH after adding the nutes and then after bubbling?

I've never heard anyone say it lowers pH. That's not how it works in my World, lol.
