Cheap DWC CFL Grow with AUTO SEEDS

I wanted to post a actual grow journal but I figured my grow would be better suited here. Since I only know what im doing in theory lol I figured id get more help here. I have all my components for my starter grow system I did alot of research and I just came to the conclusion since its one of my first grows it was no point in getting all the hi tech gadgets as i learn I'll upgrade the system. So for now I have:

1 Sterilite 18 gallon Container with 4 holes in the lid for Net Pots.

For Lighting

4 23 watt Daylight CFL's.

On the box it says 1600 Lumens 5000k

And in my lighting reserve I have:

1 SunBlasterT5 2' 24W 6400K

And I also have a 3' light that went on a fish tank that I may stick a grow bulb in not sure yet.

For Air

3 Ai

2 15-20 gallon air pumps

1 20-25 gallon air pump

3 10 inch air stones

For Nutrients

I'm going to be using a TechnaFlora Starter Kit

I will also be using Grodan Cubes and Hydroton Clay Rocks in Net pots.

Shortly I will set all my items out and post a picture. I havent figured out how im going to arrange everything yet.

So that's my simple little set up once I actually set it up. Moving on My first grow in this system i only used one air stone for 3 plants and for lighting i used that 1 Sunblaster light with some seeds i found in the bottom of a drawer no strain just regular seeds. It produced pretty decent plants to my amazement. this time i beefed up the system a little with the CFL lights and more air pumps and stones. I used plastic cups last time with holes cut all around it but this time i have various net pots. I was growing in a open laundry room the first grow and now i have a decent sized closet that i can seal all the light into. Over all im just thinking this grow will go alot smoother.

I plan to document every step of the way from setting my system up to curing my final product from a noobs perspective so stay tuned RIU.

Moving on to what we all want to know WHAT KIND OF SEEDS!!

I want to grow 3 different strains in one system but as I was sitting back thinking not all strains will work on the same nutrient schedule so I'm ditching that plan correct me if i'm on the wrong path guys.

Instead im going to be growing 2

Advanced Seeds BioDiesel Mass Feminized Cannabis Seeds


They were cheap enough for me to get a big pack to play around with but also sounded like a really good smoke too . Not to mention its just pure beautiful lol.

I also have some Pineapple Punch coming


And some Polar Express


All of which was cheap enough for me to play with while still being interesting. Im going to grow all three of those strains right here from beginning to end to learn the most from you guys.

So I spent the last few hours dissecting my lamps to make this cool 4 way CFL mount. Turned out exactly how i was thinking but I dont know if its going to be effective yet. To be determined. I also stuck my Sunblaster to the wall but it doesnt look like a good location for it at all.im going to get some mylar from home depot to line the walls and I have a shower curtain im going to put on the floor. I finally have some pictures to post so you guys can see how its coming along.



I want to find a way to organize those cords a little better i zip tied them together to make it a little neater but its bothering me them just hanging like that.

Ive been doing a little research and i like the SCROG idea I think im going to find a way to build one of those sooner rather than later. Id like those autos to curve around my CFL lighting and just use my sunblasters as support. Im thinking maybe I'll get another I think it was only 30 Bucks and use it on the far left and right of the closet if I can get the scrog idea together. It seems like a very cheap worthwhile addition that would make my growing experience easier. We'll see. Any input on the scrog idea? Im not getting much feed back yet

So today i decided to add 4 more lights I wanted to add more but im still stuck on how to add more light sockets. The 4 I used for this came from 3 lamps i found in the basement. I went to home depot this morning and looked around I went originally looking for something like this



A 125 CFL grow light. I thought it would look badass in the center while also putting more lumens into the room. Couldnt find it at home depot.

Then I started looking for a way to rig a ton of cfl lights together. I thought maybe a 4 or 6 way socket would do great they dont have those either so i settled for a few 2 way socket splitters. At this moment that puts my light count up to 8 CFL's I switched half the 23 watt 5000k daylight cfls to 23 watt 2700k lights because i read that plants need both color spectrums Im just confused on the when part. Im gonna be growing autos which flower on their own does that mean they only need 2700 all the way through or a mixture? A little clarification would go far right now as im setting this system up.
