again, not trying to put down the typed of diodes you are using, just think if that is the path you want to continue, you can do it for Far cheaper!

That would be the only reason I consider those bad girls and boys :peace:

Any word on the generic 300 watt LED? Says its as good as the advanced 300 watt, not many reviews but the ones it has gives it 5 stars. anybody used or bought the generic 300 watt?

Just wondering your take on LED vs HID? Ive never used leds but thinking about it. all this hype im wondering if they would produce yields equivalent to my HID lights. LED'S buy or not to buy that is the question????

High times seems to recomend the gl8 brand flip and california lightworks solarstorm leds... i feel you can get a better led at lower price. that generic one has the same nm ratings as some of the higher priced lights

There are cheap led and good led. If hps is your goal to replace then top quality/output chips are a must. There really is no budget version to replace hps while using less wattage.
DIY CXA's are cheaper than pre-made panels...but still aren't cheap by hps startup comparison cost.

Budget/startup growers/people testing the waters/non commercial guys will probably never find an LED that performs how they want...like hps. But for the commercial/commited/professional/full operations.... Leds that live up to hps are here already and available...just a very pretty penny to start. It's these growers/opps that have the capital to start, the time to grow and save, skills to maximize production before savings occur that will and are truly befitting from led and saving money while doing it.

IMO...there is no point to getting an led that won't beat an hps...just get an hps and an inline.

IMHO,
The cheapest led would be the CXA at >$100 per 60 watts more or less. (not counting labor)
That would be 1.6 dollars a watt.
A gavita would come in at 50 cents a watt, again more or less.(not counting bulb replacment)

The difference is I can run my trays as 27 watts a sq foot vs 50 watts a sq foot and get better results in all regards, and because there are so many point sources of light, the uniformity is killer, not to mention spectrum etc.....
