Ok. Ive decided on the type of grow i want to do and most of the specifics so if you could leave any input as to how i could improve i would appreciate it.

Ill be growing idealy 2 plants. Ill settle for one female but would rather grow two. I dont think i can fit anymore than that. Ive got 4 42 watt, 2700 lumen "general purpose" bulbs. Ive come to learn that this is probably the red spectrum and that ill need some blue spectrum for vegetation. I think ill have to swing by the store later and get some 6700 lumen bulbs for veg. Is that correct?

As for soil I chose foxfarm ocean forest. I really wanted to go hydro but I think it would be more beneficial for me to grow in soil first and get the basics down. I was thinking about mixing some perlite in the soil, is this a good idea?

I was planning on putting the seedlings in plastic throw away cups and cutting slits in the bottom for drainage. When should I move up to a bigger pot?

Also when preparing the soil for seedlings, should i water the soil before they go in or after? and ive been told no nutes for a month or so, but should i mix any nutrients to promote root development in babies? Basically any other tips would be appreciated.

ok..no tips so far but im thinking of turning this into a journal. i went to lowes yesterday and got some daylight 6500k lights. The only problem is that the 26 watts were 9 dollars a peice and a 3 pack of 15 watts were 10 dollars so i got two 3 packs for a total of 90 watts. I also have the 4 42 watt 2700 lumen light, should i throw those in there also? I know the wattage of blue spectrum lights is low but i cant really do anything about it right now, and i figure seedlings will be ok.
My main problem as of now is ventilitation. I put the lights in the grow place and turned everything on to get some temperature readings. It was around 91ish with only 1 little fan in the enclosed grow area and only 36 humidity. Fridays pay day so i figure ill be able to get a couple fans to get a actual system going and theres no doubt that the temps will be a good bit lower but what should i do for the humidity?
The strain that im germinating is from my hydro dealer. Hes not exactly sure of origin but he said hes positive it has northern lights, and you can tell visibily. Point is, i wouldnt be growing it if it wasnt fire smoke. Ill try and get pictures of everything a little later today so someone could give a more accurate input.

Ive never grown wth those exact kind of lights so i cant help you on the lights question, not usually a good idea to feed nutes to seedlings in the first 2-4 weeks,it all depends on the soil that your using because i have never used fox farms soil i wouldnt know but i have heard good things about it so i expect it will be nearer to 4 weeks.

I wouldnt grow in plastic cups if i were you as they can hinder root development because they are white/clear and light seeps through into them, alough roots will grow they will grow faster if you provide a darker pot.

I usually repot mine when they are 12" tall and that is a move up from a pot that is a little bit bigger than a plastic cup to a big final pot, this all depends on how much growing space you have though, you have to consider the pot size and how much you want the plant to stretch,a plant grown in a huge pot will stretch a lot whereas a plant grown in a small pot wont stretch as much:leaf:

Thanks. Ill have to reconsider my original pot. Yeah. the lighting situation will be solved in a month or so, i plan on having a 250 watt hps/mh interchangable for the whole flowering process so these lights are strictly for veg at this point. Should i throw any of the 2700k in with the 6500 or is the 2700k at the wrong spectrum for veg/seedlings and wont get any use?

Well the sun doesnt change its spectral frequency's lol,so i rekon that using both all the way through is the best way,i use a dual spectrum lamp and my plants have never looked better:leaf:

Well today is payday. Ive been germinating about 36 hours so ill check a little later on. Ill be able to get some batteries later and post some pics. I may make an official grow thread because aparently this topics title isnt very attractive.

You shouldnt need to add perlite to your soil. Im using the ocean forest also for my first grow and it already has the perlite in it for you.

Grow temps running at 81 and its night. Well see what they are tomorrow. Humidity is at 43%. What would a good easy method of supplying my plants with co2? Im on a budget so the cheaper the better but id still want somthing thats effective. Thanks for the help.

i saw several threads on using yeast to create co2. I plan on trying that in a couple days. I went into the room this morning and had 2/3 sprouts after only 34 hours. Will put up pics eventually but my cameras outa batteries. I have to say things are goin good aside from homework.
