Folks - I have a couple of Fem Northern Lights on the go last 9 weeks. From seed, germ took a long time, eventually into pots and straight into 18/6 since first shoots. They look smashing although one seems to be different to the other, one tall and skinny and other small and bushy.

General feedback is what im after, and should I wait till these guys are ~2 foot before 12/12 or what?

Super thanks.

Plants double in size or more once flowering starts, and those branches will stretch out. How big is the planter, like 1 gal?

I wouldn't worry about them getting bigger but I would worry about getting a stronger light try for a cheapo LED or even a 250w HPS

Keep in mind your height limit - whatever it is... The colas continue to grow in heght until mature... If they haven't been topped it will grow a main top cola. You just have to have enough room to keep the cola from getting fried in the lights...
Nice looking plants!

Thanks for the replies,

I think that's a 200w cfl, could be 250 need to double check will confirm. I also only think they are 1 gal but I get you they have a lot more growing once in 12/12.

I have taken your advice and dropped them into flowering last night, this means a lighting change, swapped out my cfl for 400w HPS, I popped it in around 3 foot above them don't want to melt/shock em, will reduce to max 2 feet over the coming week.

I certainly want to top them but I believe I should wait till week 2/3 of flowering, is that reasonable?

Again thanks for the feedback..

Oh I think I should be fine for room, another 6foot at least in there..

nice looking NLs man. I just harvested 2 NL autos, one was a complete beast of a plant. I got 90g off one and i threw most of the popcorn buds away. Who knows how much the actual yield was.

Yeah like @innerG said, if you want top them now, then let them recover a few days and switch to flowering. You can still LST during flower if you wanted also.

Do you know what breeder your NLs are from?

Not familiar with that level of detail, I just reached out on the www and got myself a pack of 5, 3 of em crumbled during germ :(

I was wondering about when the top em alright, job done, give the a little while to shake it off and then in we go.

I've got non-auto NL going right now from clones. It probably doubled when flowering started (2 weeks ago) they're setting up nicely though. At only 16 days they're already getting frosty
NL is fun to grow for me
high yields, great taste, and nice indica relaxation :)

Thought I would share an update, they are both doing well but showing browning of hairs on the buds -is this a sign of ripness, wondering how close this is to harvest?

Its only the one pic for now, will load some more later on..

beepotron: thanks for calling that out, im find it hard to control temp on hot days, i will pull back on the nuts, in fact i will flush them out a little next watering..

innerG, i will post some more pics when i get a chance, yours are not looking too shaby either ;)

so what do we reckon on timing here, i have these guys clocked at just finishing week 7 of flowering.

i believe they are the flowering period is between 7-9 weeks, i sort get the feeling they are done now?

finding it really** hard to control temps, weather is causing temps to rocket so quicker they are done the better..
