Checking trichs with scopes.....................

Good morning all!

I am having real issues checking trichs. I may drink too much coffee i think,lol.

i have a 30x ACTIVE EYE
and a 60-100x from radioshack.

where should i be checking.....nuggie? sugar leaf? I do get some clearly visible trich shots, but i feel im molesting my plants trying to take a peek,lol.

Is it best to remove the nug or leaf to set on stable place as a table?

i wouldn't remove them to check them theres a good guide on here that you can look at that shows you the visible differnce in tric color

I guess i wasnt clear in my first post. Thanks for the reply tho.

ive read all the harvesting guides, and set on trich colors.

mine are clear/cloudy/very few amber....so i can see fully formed trichs...but as soon as i see them something moves, or gets blurry, then i realize im half in a nug trying to get clear shot....then the scopes all sticky/stanky,lol

What im saying is trich checking makes me sweat and stress out and just want to pull at allmost full amber pistils,lol

18 fan. Some of these other posts make me laugh, but I understand what you are asking.

I have the same problem. I usually snip off a small leaf coming out of a bud that has some trichs on it. I lay the piece of leaf of a table and look at it that way. When you are at 60x or more magnification even the slightest movement can completely change your field of view. If you don't have any leaves with trichomes on them coming out of the buds I would try and snip off a tiny piece of bud.

I look a the smaller bud leaves, half way down the plant. Knowing some will be ahead of, and some will behind those in the middle. If I like what I see on those smaller bud leaves, then they get chopped.

Thats what im talking about,lol....just when i get a perfect view of the trichs..POOF blurry,lol
i will snip a budleaf next time.

i also just found a kids microscope in the basement with 100x/300x also, i wonder how that thing will do. Anyone ever try a kiddy scope?lol

a single trichome would probably be your whole field of view, would be cool to look at though. im using a 30x and also have a 60-100x and the 30x seems to be perfect imo. That is if you cant keep it still. May try to trim a piece next time.

Don't worry about molesting the plant it will be fine, after a while the edges or the scope get covered I just use an alcohol swab to clean.

I have the same problem with the movement so I bought a eyeclops at wallmart in the kids section, cost me 30$ and is sooooo cool.

Plugs into an rca plug on the tv lcd what ever and turn it on your in business mags 100x, 200x and 500x.

Get one.

who uses an rca plug anymore. j/k. I would rather have a high def one. I guess you cant beat the price though.

I clip off a sliver of a bud, I find that the leaves' trichs ripen before the buds - the leaves are there before the buds, a little longer to ripen.

I use a 60X - 100X scope, works great.

Well it was much easier using a mid nug leaf snippet. I cant bring myself to sliver a nug,lol
