First grow journal on here and more to follow... Feel free to post here with comments & questions..

Here's my story, years ago I had quite a few grows under my belt and used to be a member of RIU back in 2009-2010. I gave up on growing, which was by hobby and not to long ago decided to put my hobby back into play.... I decided to come back to RIU and after seeing how different things are now compared to then, in a growing sense, is absolutely amazing which turned me back onto it. So luckily I had a few seeds laying around which I figured had little to no chance at still being worth my time... Out of 1 AK47, 3 G13 Purple Haze, 5 Mindbender and 1 Cherry OG seed, the single Cherry OG was my only survived. And these seeds were sitting for well over 3 years.

This journal was started about 4 weeks into veg but here is my run down...

I germinated the seed by means of placing the seed in a cup of room temperature distilled water and placed in a dark cabinet and the taproot gave way 24 hours later.

The following day I gently placed the germinated seed into a rockwool cube that had been soaking in the distilled water, which I forgot to previously mention was pH balanced to 5.6, for about 10-15 minutes. I shook out about 15-20% of the water from the cube and placed under a light inside of a tray.
I placed the light on 20 hours and off 4. After 7 days off being on that light schedule I switch things to 18/6 to give the seedlings more time to rest...

Here is my setup...

Area Size: 3.5' x 4' x 7'2"
Medium:
Rockwool
Mother Earth Coco
Hydroton

Everything gets soaked or rinsed before any of the magic happens

Nutrients:
1/4 strength = week 2 - 3
1/2 strength = week 3 - 4
GO BioThrive
GO CalMag
GO BioRoot
GO BioWeed
GO BioMarine
GO Diamond Black
Locally Brewed Worm Tea

Water schedule:

Seedling Stage:
Hand watered with pH balanced distilled water at 5.5 everytime the cube was beginning to get dry, always kept moist but not drenched or soaked.

Week 1 - 2:
Placed cube into 3" x 4" netty pot with hydroton and used pH balanced distilled water at 5.5 every time it began to feel semi-dry... Once again moist, not soaked

Week 2 - 3
Wet the hydroton in the netty pot and transplanted into a 3 gallon pot with only hydroton surrounding the cube. The pot had very sufficient drainage in it so I hand watered once a day with pH balanced well water that runs through a RO system. Water also contained following nutrients in 1/4 strength doses...

GO BioThrive 2.5ml
GO BioRoot 2.5ml
GO CalMag 2.5ml

Week 3 - 4:
Once again, I wet the hydroton and transplanted from the 3 gallon into a 5 gallon smart pot with a simple mix of coco and hydroton because I didn't want to be bothered with getting root bound. During this week I fed with pH balanced well water again but at 1/2 strength for the nutrients.... The following was used...

GO BioThrive 5 ml
GO BioRoot 5ml
GO CalMag 10ml (only thing I went full strength on due to growing in coco)
GO Bioweed 2.5ml
GO BioMarine 2.5ml
GO Diamond Black 2.5ml
Locally Brewed Worm Tea (fed seperatly from watering)

Current lighting is T5 HO but will be upgrading to VHO as I normally use the T5's for my seedlings and new clones and my MH for veg. As of right now I will keep it under my T5 since I only have one plant with cfl's on the sides to bring light to the lower portion of the plant.

Light schedule:
Seedling - week 1 = 20/4
Week 2 - week 4 = 18/6

Temps: 78f - 82f
Humidity: 35%-45%
Water Type: RO
Water Temp: 69f
Water pH: 6.2

One thing I'm in need of is Mylar for my walls but I'm just waiting another hour til the supply shop opens then I'll going to grab some.

I also have a Vornado fan in the grow space... I need to replace it with an oscillating fan I know... But the fan faces the corner so that it's not aimed directly at the plant.

The pics are from transplant till now, the beginning of week 4. I plan on vegging another 2 - 4 weeks depending on growth before placing them under my HPS to flower.

I also am currently considering my next purchase. Thinking of Sour Blueberry, Black Cream and Sour Jack. 20150604_171716.jpg20150604_171709.jpg 20150605_194322.jpg 20150611_085614.jpg 20150611_085628.jpg

Here's an update... Still at half strength nutrients. Feeding every 2-3 days.

Yesterday I ditched the T5 and went with HID.

I picked up this entire setup for $230.00...

SunSystem self ballasted 250/400watt Conversion setup
1 - UltraSun 400watt Metal Halide Blue Bulb
1 - Eye Hortilux 400watt Super HPS Bulb

Almost $400 worth of lighting for $230!

I added one extra fan at the bottom of the grow space and added an AC to keep my temps between 79-80F. Humidity stays at 35%. Foliar spray when lights are off ONLY

I'm also impressed at the explosion of growth in just one day of using that MH! The leaves filling in between the nodes were all small when using the florescent lights and growing slowly. Now they are twice their size! 20150614_071131.jpg20150614_071134.jpg 20150614_071123.jpg

OK so here I am... Entering into week 6 of veg...

18/6 light schedule still
3/4 strength nutrients
Entire Veg portion on GO's lineup
Temps: stable at 76f
Humidity: 30%-35%
Worm tea
400w Blue Enhanced Metal Halide
50% Mother Earth Coco/50% hydroton
Topped: Once

I will most likely take a few cuttings this evening... Let the plant recover and start flowering in the next day or two. I MUST clone since I'm waiting on my Sour Blueberry from Humboldt Seeds to come in. Excited about those!

Currently on day 8 of flower... Just super cropped my cherry. Been researching it a lot and hearing how it creates an explosion of growth I decided to give it a go. I topped every budding branch exposing light to the lower area of the plant. From what ive read, by the next day the bud sites will be standing up. Can't wait.. Especially since I waited till halfway through veg to top it only once.

I also took two clones from her the last day of veg, so the clones took 7 days to show roots in my humidity dome on my heating pad. I also took the two smallest branches which won't produce much and cut them for clones the same day my clones started showing roots. So it's day 1 for those. They droop a little however I expect this of them for the first day or two. First two clones were rooted in coco cubes presoaked in clonex and worm tea. I ran out of the coco cubes so I wanted to experiment with the newest clones so I presoaked rockwool cubes in GH rapid root and pH 5.9 water. I'm using life gel to clone with and it shows excellent results so far. No clone leaves have yellowed and were all happy healthy in the dome. 80f temp and humidity is at 78%. Now that the older clones have rooted they went into solo cups with plenty of drainage and under more cfl's(until I get my T5 VHO). My oldest clone just got fed last night.

BioThrive Grow @ 2.5ml
CalMag @ 10ml
BioRoot @ 2.5ml
BioWeed @ 2.5ml
BioMarine @ 2.5ml
Black Diamond @ 2.5ml
5.9 RO water @ 1gal.

I did not want to over water the rooted clones. I very lightly fed them. They sit in a 50/50 mix of Mother Earth coco and hydroton. All flushed prior. Woke up this morning and they look great still! 4 weeks of veg on them with maximum topping and super cropping.

My flowering Cherry OG is looking great. Fed her this morning...

I also rolled my smart pot up to around 4 gallons and put more of my 50/50 mix in the encourage stem strength and further root growth seeing as she will be stretching in the next week or two of flower....

Here are pics... Older clones, unrooted clones and the bigger cherry super cropped for maximum potential...
