Looking awesome GroErr. Looks like you really put some effort into the new flowering room, hope it all goes well. Love the way the PBKs are growing, really bushing out, you hopefully should get some nice yields from them.
Hey thanks for the support, hoping they flower well. Having a bit of a cal-mag deficiency issue, came on fast, likely result of turning on the reds last week, they're drinking quite a bit faster. Boosting them up with Ca-Mag-N this week which should turn them around, seeing results already after 24 hrs so looking good.

Getting there with the new room, build seems like it's taken forever but it's almost there. Got the sub-floor panels in this past weekend, started laying the flooring. Floor took a bit of work, I had to cut panels and do it in sections. Two removable panels about 1/2 way into the room will allow me to put my res on the colder concrete floor when I get around to playing with NFT, will keep the water cooler, and give me an additional 4" of head room. The sump-pump can't be removed, but not a bad thing, gives me a "sink" to drain res water later, I cut some removable panels for it as well so I can get in there for maintenance, but the panels gave me usable floor space. Some shots of the floor and panels.... Love doing this shit, not as much as harvesting, but it's a lot of fun :)

An update and important change to lighting thought I'd mention.

The deficiency issue I noticed on Monday seems to have cleared up nicely. Gave them a shot @600 ppm of the AN "A" only, which is primarily cal-mag-N, the "B" part is the micro nutrients so I left that out for the boost.

Another thing I did which is more important as far as the general use of these panels, was turned off the Bloom switch. I had turned it on thinking a couple of weeks in veg prior to flipping would help them acclimate to the heavy reds (there are a lot of reds in the veg mode, but when you turn on the bloom it like triples the reds) and trigger some pre-flowering.

After 5 days with the bloom switch on, they did begin shooting out some pistils, they all look like fems. However, besides the deficiency that showed up, and likely because of that, they seemed to have slowed/stunted as far as new growth in that time period after I flipped the bloom switch on. I'd blame it on not feeding them enough but I did keep a close eye on them, noticed they were drying up faster and fed them, yet they still seemed to stunt/slow down considerably.

Was also doing some reading, visual inspection of the diodes, and looking up specs on these panels. The veg mode on these has enough reds in it, which they need (some) during veg, but they do seem to benefit more from the blues, whites, and greens while the panels are in veg mode. They also seemed to like and have obviously done well with only the veg switch on so far. So, all that said, I decided to go back to using them with only the veg switch on as the combination of light bands/spectrum in veg mode seems to be ideal for them while in Veg mode. Maybe these guys at LG knew what they were doing after all, we'll soon see I guess...

So the plan right now will be to leave the panel in veg mode only (running about 65W per plant), and if this theory about the spectrums/colours being ideal for veg holds true, will leave them that way until the end of stretch, so a couple of weeks into 12/12. I feed them that way also, don't switch to Bloom feeds until after the stretch since essentially, until they actually begin flowering, they are in veg mode and need the lighting and nutrients best suited for veg mode.

Proper use of the lights I think is absolutely critical to whether they flourish or do "ok". Distance at the different stages, 30" for seedlings/clones, 24" for early veg, 18-20" for veg, and optimizing the spectrums used at the different stages all play into that, let's hope I'm right, we'll soon see I guess ;)

Hey folks, weekly update and pics. So, this is day 53 from seed or 7 1/2 weeks. Last run I vegged with this light I did clones and was at this stage around week 6 which is about right, clones have about a 2 week head start. As you'll see below, they're doing quite well, I've said all along i like the way these lights veg and they've just confirmed it again. 3 strains now, same results, quick veg, tight nodes, they're definitely keepers for my vegging...

Monday was not good, the last post explains it but basically they didn't like the early switch of the reds at all, had a cal-mag deficiency that came on quick and they took a drastic turn for the worse, very quickly. Fortunately, I seem to have caught it in time and they responded very well to some feeds of cal-mag-N at 600 ppm on Monday. Gave them some more at 500 ppm Thursday and fed them again tonight. They're thirsty and really sucking up water quick. They're telling me they're ready to flower :)

They've all shown their (fem) legs, although JTR2 gave me a bit of a scare earlier in the week, looked like some potential tiny balls, but closer inspection showed I was just being paranoid. All signs are it's a fem and she's taking over the cabinet. Did some additional LST on her, fimmed her again and she's liking it :)

No pics of JTR twins in the tent, too busy today, it's doing "ok" but I need to get it and the younger PBK's coming up into the cabinet. That small tent is not up to vegging, it's great for clones/seeds which is all I normally use it for. Got about 6 hours of work on the new room this weekend, and voila, it's ready (enough) to put these ladies in there mid week, I'll move them in and start a gradual move to 12/12 on Wednesday which is week 8 from seed. I got the flooring in, inside wall/door framed, and inside lower reflective walls, intake air from the furnace/air conditioner, and exhaust connected in it's permanent location. Some finishing touches over the next couple of weeks but I can do those during lights on. Here's a peek of what the ladies will see later this week, about as clean as it will ever be - lol

Here are all the ladies, last pics in the veg cabinet:

PBK1, still the tallest of the 2 PBK's, huge fan leaves and the newer growth is almost a blueish green, nice strong plant:
PBK1-Day53-1.jpg

PBK2, although not as tall as PBK1, it has more side shoots and could produce more than PBK1:
PBK2-Day53-1.jpg

JTR2, the sat-dominant beauty, she's recovered quite well from the def early this week, has loved the fim's and LST, she's going to have an abundance of colas :)

Cheers

Well, last night the ladies spent their first night in their new grow room, they seem to like it :)

Got it dialled in nicely for flowering, 76-80F lights on, 63-66F lights off, 30% humidity lights on, 40% lights off. Flipped the Bloom switch on so they're getting the full 300W with reds on, raised it to 24" for a few days to acclimate them to the reds and gave them a good feed @600 ppm which they were due for anyhow. Good thing I have the inline fan sucking air from the furnace as it's been cold outside but turning up the variable controller allows me to control how much heat I bring in and raised the temps nicely. The single light, even with the bloom switch on only brought the temps up to 72F so the heat comes in very handy, well worth the effort to tie into my furnace and air conditioning for summer.

Have them at 16/8 for a few days until I can get a few things done on the room before flipping them to 12/12, otherwise it'll be difficult to do later based on a 12 hour window. Should be able to complete what I need by Saturday and begin incrementally dropping the schedule towards 12/12. They continue to grow and suck up water/feed at a good pace, not a bad thing going into flowering, yeah baby :)

Camshot is all I had time for, busy night last night:

Hey thanks PSU, a combo of ideas from trolling RIU and my first year of indoor experience went into this room, when I get settled with moves and finish up a few touches I'm going to post the build from scratch, I've kept pics at every stage, hopefully help others in here with some ideas.

That's an F'n brilliant idea! That's one of the things I've loved about this site, growers/smokers tend to be very creative :) I'm exhausting outside, side of the house and into some bushes so it's pretty stealth and my neighbour on that side of the house grows/smokes (but doesn't know I grow). Will look at doing that for Phase 2, absolutely no chance of smell would be awesome. Like any project, it never ends ;)

Thanks for the rep, not my idea and it's been around for awhile now...........a grower here in PA does it and loves it

Good lookin GroErr!

I also want to start a LED grow and am definitely going to check out your thread often for info, tips and such. Good luck with the grow and if you have some time maybe you could check out my thread also where im asking about some details you could help out with. First post is a little bit confused but my last post is complementary to what i said first and is where i now need advice :)

If you didn't know there is a big 100 pages thread on LED growing on GC also, could probably be useful to you also (just in case you didn't know about it)!

Anyways wish you the best and looking forward to see what you can come up with your grow!

Hey, thanks John, will check out your thread for sure. This one is going well so far, doing a gradual flip to 12/12 over the next 10 days. Running this thread to see if these panels can flower quality bud and yield. As you can see, they veg alright, we'll see how they flower over the next 8-9 weeks :)

Ok, looks like I have semi-functional access now so will try my weekly update a day late.

So yesterday when I took the pics, it' Day 56 from seed/Day 0 flowering. Busy week, had to reference my journal to capture everything - lol All of this by the way, runs off a combination of 5 of these LG LED panels, use them in different boxes/cabinets/tent/room depending on what I'm doing at the time.

First off the good news, finished my flower room enough this past weekend to seal any light and air leaks (framed inside wall, hung the door and sealed it with that DuroFoam insulation I used for the walls instead of normal trim, it sealed perfectly!) Still a lot of little things to finish but this is good to go as far as switching to 12/12, had set it to 16/8 last weekend, switched to 14/10 yesterday and will be at 12/12 by Friday. Using yesterday as Day0 as far as counting the flowering time. Like any changes, I don't like to shock them in any way so I prefer to I do the light flip in stages. Not sure if it helps but it's always served me well.

Cut a bunch of clones on Saturday morning and got them going in the 2x2 tent under 1x150W, pulls 60W on veg switch and is perfect for starting seeds and clones in that 2x2x4' space. 6 from JTR Twins in the veg cabinet (confirmed to be fem!), plus 2 each from PBK1/PBK2/JTR2 in the flower room. Should be good to go for next round (6-8 plants), a couple of them will go into my 12/12 station (also running a 150W panel but both switches on) and anything left over will go outside. Have given up my guerrilla grows but can't give up outdoor completely! A few plants scattered in discreet areas never hurt anyone, and I love the cost of outdoor ;)

Germinated 2x Blueberry (Indica), 2x PPP (Sativa) seeds I received last week, threw them in the tent with the clones, 96 hours later all sprouted and are already about 1.5" tall this morning, sweet. These will go into the 12/12 station under another 150W panel and join the PBK I'm running in the 12/12 from seed contest here. My sole PBK entry is getting lonely in there :( I'll be using that 12/12 station to test/get some quick turn-around on new strains.

And here are the girls, they are loving the new room and stretching out nicely with all that space. Measured them yesterday, going into 12/12 they're dimensions are:

Group shot:
All-Day59-1.jpg

PBK1: 17" H x 13" W
PBK1-Day59-1.jpg

PBK2: 15" H x 15" W
PBK2-Day59-1.jpg

JTR2: 11" H x 17" W (shorter but bushy/dense as fk though)
JTR2-Day59-1.jpg

Since I referenced them and they're all under these LED's, here are some shots of my other goings-on...

JTR Twins, started with the 3 above, this is her after a week in the cabinet, much better as she was looking ragged being in the temp holding tent while I finished the room. She'll flower with another 2x PBK's that were in the tent as well, will flip these in about 4-5 weeks after I nurse them back to health in the cabinet. This is a day after cutting 6 clones off her, she didn't even twitch a bit :) Keep in mind she's in a 7Gal/14" root pouch, and in a tight tent with less than optimal light and air exchange until this past week.
JTR-Twins-Day59.jpg

The JTR/PBK Clones (12), and 2x Blueberry, 2x PPP (Triple P) seeds:
PBK-JTR-Clones-BB-PPP-Seeds-Day1.jpg

And my PBK 12/12 from seed entry, she's coming along nicely for being 12/12 from seed, in a party cup for 40 days! Gives you an idea of what the PBK's will look like in about 3-4 weeks, about 10x bigger though... I hope! ;)

Here are the ladies and how I got them uploaded. Pic names are self-explanatory, reduced in size to get under the 1Mb limit when you "Upload a file", then inserted them as thumbnails, hoping they open into full size... Used IE, but this should work in most browsers. Just have to have a way to reduce the file sizes :(

Welcome back folks! Not a bad thing being offline this week, lot of activities... Now that the flower room is going, I was able to move the 12/12 cabinet into the flower room, freed up the space under the stairs to move my clone/seed tent and now everything is stealth again :)

Unfortunately can't post pics, will try later and have found you can edit post so you don't have to double post updates :)

So yesterday was Day 66 from seed, Day 7 flowering. The are stretching like crazy, PBK1 went from 17" to 22" tall this week and JTR2 went from 17" across to 22" across.

They're all super healthy, drinking up 2.5-3L every 3 days right now, feeding them (AN Grow A+B) @600 ppm and they seem happy with that for now, I feed them veg food through the first couple of weeks of stretch and keep a close eye on them, they'll tell me when they need to switch to flowering food.

Got the new room dialed in very nicely and they're loving all the space, they're lonely but I have 3 more coming in to join them in about 4 weeks. For now I put my 12/12 from seed cabinet in the room this week to give these girls some company.

Expecting some more explosive growth through the stretch this week until they settle into flowering. Lots of bud areas developing, very easy to see on the sativa dominant JTR2 but the Indica dominant PBK's are showing a ton of bud areas developing, they're just under the canopy of larger/fatter leaves.

So far very happy with how this grow is developing, hoping these lights can show me some bud when it counts, I'm expecting somewhere between 200-250g dry from these ladies to consider these lights a success in flowering. As you'll see (if I can figure out a way to get pics posted @#$!) they have done very well in the veg stage and they're right on track so far as far as triggering these ladies into flowering mode...

Hey thanks medicine, everything's going very well this round so far, just have to keep focused for 7-8 weeks and get some nice new meds off these ladies. Now if I could just get the pics uploaded $#%^! Trying one last option with Internet Explorer, I hate IE but if it works I'll use it until they get the bugs sorted out, site looks great otherwise but pics are a must!!

I can't get pictures loaded either, tried compatible and not. What the &### is wrong here. Need some sight improvement.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're still doing a lot of work in the background to get this fully functional. I do this stuff for a living and this was a major tear down/re-build so there'll be issues for a few days. BUT the pics are a central nervous system here, they need to focus on getting them working or loose a bunch of members...

Think I finally got them uploaded, quite the work around though, hope they get the simpler uploader version working soon :(

Success! Although the edit function keeps the original location of the post instead of updating it as a newer post/version, oh well, you'll get the picture :)
