Choosing a rosin press

Idk what temps and rh you keep it at without a dryer but if it requires any cooling, I have no way to control that in dry space. A basement bathroom which is perfect for me 60-68F and 60rh easily controlled with inkbird outlet/probe.

If I need lower than 68F Im screwed. If it molds Id just die inside to say the least. The FML moment. Havent looked that far into it but if its not cold enough to yield good enough of good hash, another reason.

The bathroom has no vent so no way to cool down.

yea just quick search I see many suggestions but there different frim when I last checked but so far I cant meet the temps and see points in time this could turn into a nightmare.

Washing small amounts didnt seem worth it either. I could try just to see how it goes. Idk if I need all my space yet to meet my quota which I kinda should to pay off a chunk of the grow.

Been broke for like a half a year or more over grow stuff.

Another reason just looked up average bubble yield is 5% I forgot thats a major first reason I said no for now. If thats true thats already half my quota I set for myself to be happy, then I have to still press it? I didnt understand that.

Even if I got 70gs Id have to press it and all the risks involved to have less than I wanted which is 70gs.

For some odd reason this first clone run its yielding more sugar leaf than I last remember so Ill be pressing a lot of dry sift as a treat.

Ok thats like 96gs then press into a little less. That sounds better but quite a few steps that can go wrong. Ill see how this goes I may not need one of the clones to make my goals I may be able to use it for bubble or new strain etc.

If your material is dried, then the returns are gonna be higher, like 20% give or take depending on the genetics and how well the weed was grown… 5% is because most of the weight when doing a fresh frozen run is just water weight in the bud. If you dried it then you get the same amount of trichomes but with a lot less starting weight since the water has already evaporated from the bud. If you wash 2lbs of wet material its gonna yield similar to 1/2 lb of dried material

Wow thanks for explaining that, that never came up when reading about it, thats awesome! It totally would resolve the bag issue too if Im not jumping too far ahead.

Id just worry about drying it and it melting into the sieve or whatever instead of dust. I could lose everything if im not mistaken. But ya hash rosin or sift rosin if the bomb I cant imagine having that. Or having even more yield due to not having to be extracted as flower.

Usually 95% of the hash puck is gone and see through. Ill keep looking into it I literally just thought what I said I thought would happen.

If you are working with cured material, the hash will be easier to handle and work with, lots of people air dry in a cardboard box or a pizza box after sieving it… a freeze dryer is good when working with fresh frozen cause the hash gets really sticky and greasy but you dont NEED one to get some fire product

Yea doing math its like $10 in bags if to follow canucks grow method that i tried once with 6gs in each bag. I double bagged but idk if I have to but if I did it would be like $20 in bags. I could try adding more hash per bag.

So what are the drying conditions that need be met? Straight from the washer machine what do you do? I have half a mind to try it on one plant this harvest.

And with those yields is that a general supply of high quality hash or is it between that and lower grade at the bare minimal and can have a few more levels of filtration?

I was watching a guy that learned from frenchy that was just making like 1 or 2 grades. This video.

As to what you do right after the wash I forget, I thought I read you freeze it for a day or two then air dry it then sieve and proceed but idk.

What I just got done reading was making is seem like it was a vpd like threshhold for dry conditions it depends on temp and rh, is there something I can refer to to figure that out? Hope this is something I can do and was just messing around not realizing I could.

I learned watching frenchy’s videos and bubbleman’s worlds… i watched multiple times til i was confident i knew what i was supposed to do each step. And to sieve, i would place the patty in the freezer and start sieving it or microplaning. If it gets greasy, place patty back in freezer and resume once it’s frozen. Id put the siever or microplane in the freezer as well so its cold and doesn't heat up the hash patty

So you dry the bubble right away air dry and only freeze it prior to sieving? Where can I find the temp and rh needed? Probably just need to search harder but I watched that video a few times now.

Ill look for frenchy videos himself or bubble man but yea that video I shared he freeze dries it so I never got a break down on that. I know to use minimal ice and be gentel its the vortex that extracts.

Yea see I didnt realize about the wet weight of fresh frozen but didnt look far into it because that guys been doing it for a while and got 50 somethin grams off 1068 grams or 38oz so I was just like hell naw.

Then someone on this thread put into perspective that if you have a bunch of outdoor bud and trim it makes sense but ya.

Its new to me to get 15-20% return on cured flower. So when I calculated that it seemed too good to be true, somethings off.

I just did the math again realizing I dab too much. I see now, its like saying he got 50gs from 250gs dry weight. I am not ready to wash if I just made that mistake live and I did lmao. I dab ALOT ok.

No, after you collet your wet hash patty, freeze it immediately… then when it’s frozen you can sieve it. Then when it’s all sieved in small particles, you can air dry it, and since it’s sieved it will dry quicker so you don’t get any mold on it from the water. Just don’t keep it somewhere hot or too humid. Some people dry it in the fridge
