Choosing nutrients?

So, I am using technaflora's nute lineup at the moment, but I am starting to run out...and it's time to choose some new ones for next time.

Has anyone actually done real comparisons between the products out there? I was looking at the advanced nutrients stuff, as the extra yields could make it well worth it, but how much of their claims are just advertising BS?

How do you choose your nutes? Do the high end products really yield more?

Fox farm is not fully organic but it is a great nutrient system, especially for soil. I like the advanced line. It may seem expensive and confusing but they have a really good calculator online. Being that there is so many products in their line you can adjust their recommended schedule once you figure out what your plants like. You can also mix and match nutes from different manufacturers.

Right now I am staying away from organic nutrients...while I would certainly go for something like Blue Mountain Organics if this were a small personal grow...its a medical op and I need to maximize my yield.

I know any of the reputable companies like fox farm would work well, but its worth it to pay quite a lot extra even if it just yields a little more. If I were to switch to humboldt nutrients, for example, it would cost me an extra $200 over switching to fox farms, but ONE extra ounce of production over the entire life of the products would pay for the difference.

I use the GH 3 part system for my ebb and flow. It has worked pretty well.
There are a few supplements. Floralicious, Liquid Kool Bloom, Dry Kool Bloom, Micronutrients, and that doesnt included bud sweetener... I dont understand why they cant included all of those into a simpler system still though. Seems like just a gimmick to make more money :-/

:-|I like the advanced line. When I switched from GH, I got about two ozs more out of a 4x4 flood with a 1000. The entire advanced line is kind of expensive. Not sure if the cost is worth the output. The sweetleaf adds a very nice aroma to the smoke.

I saw some stuff called "Bud Candy" by AN at the store the other day. Its supposedly the hot shit, a mix of the sweetleaf and something else. it was 34$ though.

It adds a more marijuna essential aroma or another aroma by another plant to enhance the marjiuana smell?

In my experience as long as your giving your plants the nutrition it needs, things like bud candy are not needed. Besides, would you feed candy to your babies? lol

Personally, I think the AN line is a great profit center for the owners of hydro stores ... and that's why they push it.

I switched from the GH Lucas formula after many years and am now using the Botanicare line. If I use just the Grow and Bloom supplemented with CalMag, i get better yields than I did with the Lucas formula. If I use all the supplements offered by Botanicare, my yield goes up dramatically, as does bud quality.

The reason Bud Candy is so awesome is that it is FULL of amino acids. Amino acids aid in the uptake of nutrients so it not only adds carbs but it also aids in uptake of all your other nutes.
