Also if you look after the smack it does appear Chris is talking out of one side of his mouth like his lip was puffing up

If that punk sissy slapped me the next thing he'd be using his hands for would be to pick up his teeth.
One particular incident could be seen as homophobic as he slapped a guy for kissing him on the red carpet

Its the fact he slapped a much smaller man that really irritates me. Like people have said what would he do if someone the size of the rock said it

No I said there is a fine line. I’m not saying beat your kids. I just think how disciplinary ass Whooping was normal as a kid and taught a respect for elders, others and so on and so forth. As a responsible adult I’d like to think the parent should know the difference between abuse and discipline.
Hitting your kids is abuse, there is no "fine line". It doesn't teach respect, it teaches fear, and it teaches kids that violence will somehow solve their problems. You will garner greater respect from your children by listening to them. I gained zero respect for my father or his rules from the few times he hit me. If anything it taught me that violence isn't the answer, and taught me what NOT to do with my own children. Kids will always push the limits, it's their job. If they fear you because you hit them, they may not push the limits when you're looking, but they will do it behind your back. Trust and respect is something that you have to earn from your children, you aren't going to smack it into them. Violence only begets more violence.

I've been in line at the store thinking to myself how nice it would be if the screaming out of control brat in front of me got slapped across the face. I remember when people used to spank their kids in public and everyone cheered. Some people don't control their kids. The rest of us shouldn't have to be subjected to their terrible behaviour. If I hadn't gotten some corporal punishment when it was well deserved I would have never changed my behaviour. Proper parenting can include spanking.

Just because you had fear spanked into you and changed your ways, doesn't mean that it's the only option or the best option. In fact the best behaved kids I know are the ones who are not spanked, but have patient parents who listen to their children's needs. You are only spanking fear into them, not respect.

It was always the last option. And reserved for things like getting caught playing with matches, catching fields on fire, throwing rocks at cars, etc... We were bad little hoodlums doing some bad things that could get someone hurt or killed. Looking back I probably should have been spanked harder.

Looking back, you should have been supervised better. If spankings worked, you would have only been spanked once, and then you would be good. The problem I see is that parents don't want to spend time with their kids, or bother to understand them, and because of that they have no idea what their kids are up to. This stuff took me a while to learn, and I'm still learning. Thank goodness that my wife has a degree in early childhood education, otherwise I would likely repeat the viscous cycle myself. There are certainly consequences in life to our actions, which is something important to teach kids early on. Those consequences don't have to be physical violence however.
