Christmas

I always hung out with family for all day then later that night when family is gone me and a few friends would go over to our other friends house and smoke with him and his parents lol

I usually go to a relatives house. and the weather here is always sunny. I've never seen snow before:(
That's a shame we don't see it much but when we do everything comes to a standstill the Brits can't cope with even a little bit of snow, we have closed schools no trains accidents galore but us simple people love it everything looks magical.

*SIGH* I use to love christmas when I was much younger, but don't get me wrong I still like the holidays.Usualy the family gets together, even the ones you don't want o be bothered with come around, gifts are exchainged,a dinner, alot of talking, maybe too much talking lol..Our weather here in north florida,is cool but not cold, and probably a little rain, but all around is a good time.

the history behind why the date was chosen has more to deal with pagan celebration rather than the CHRIST-mas in which it should be focused apoun. Christ was born sometime in September or October. the reason behind choosing the date was an idea the catholics had that it would be easier to convert people if they dressed up and put christian holidays on top of it(their traditions). we will one day no the true day in which he was born.

DISCLAIMER:
i make no division to say that muslims, pagans, druids, sheba's dont worship all the same God. seems to me that all the dieties are one just a different perspective on how they look and how a savior went forth. but all still one God. as for stuff like the green man and lokii different interpretations for angels .

I've got the biggest house and I'm the oldest in the family so the party is usually here. We celebrate on the 24th with our kids, grandchildren, brothers, sisters , nephews, nieces and whoever else shows up. We do a white elephant thing to trade gifts and a bunch of foods for the munchies. My wife is a nurse and they offer tripple pay on the 25th so she works while I nap and clean after the party. Here in Dallas you can never tell what the weather will be like on christmyth day. We do it without god. I started putting up my outdoor lights today.

We also did Christmas on the 24th. I credit my mid-European heritage. Christmas Day was organized around momma's annual roast goose. The tallow from the roast would be a feature of her breakfasts for the next two months ... cn

Let's see....wake up put the kettle on, bundle up and go shovel the walk, back inside for a hot drink {Irish coffee}. Head to my grand parents house for dinner and drinks, the exchanging of gifts {just the kids really} and then back to our respective homes for the night. Most will watch A Christmas Carol {B&W with Alastair Sim} before heading to bed for the night.

We were allowed to open one present during Christmas Eve. Then Santa would come in the middle of the night. We had presents from each other and a shit load of stuff from the man up north. We made out like bandits. Both of my parents were Depression era children and they moved heaven and earth to give us what they never had. Christmas day was family day. We shut out the world and spent the day telling family legends and Christmas "miracle" stories. Then dad would read from the Bible about the birth of Christ. My mother collected Nativity scenes from around the world. We had every combination you can imagine. We would clear an area in the living room and fill it with cotton fill (to look like snow). Then artistically placed the nativity scenes on the cotton. My dad (being an electrician) wired Christmas lights to look like stars and used them to highlight the scenes. Christmas dinner consisted of posole, Christmas tamales, sweet rellenos, carne adobada, empanaditas, biscochitos, gallons of virgin sangria, and snootfuls of dandelion wine. ;)

Now it's all just memories. It's going to be a nostalgic Christmas for me. :)
