I don't worry to much about undergrowth or trimming till I'm in flower about 3 weeks. I do remove some leaf and grow sparingly till that point then I clean it out.

In veg ya got plant matter growing all over as ya try to guide them with training. Giving that growth below the chance to rise up will add to your harvest. Is it all going to contribute...no. Some material needs removed for airflow. Leaf can clog up things. Going slow with trimming in veg is okay. To me it really counts when the plant is set and ready for flower. Get in there and clean all growth from below. Give them buds new life and air flow.

Most importantly to me is getting all I can get from a plant. If I remove stuff to early I'm not letting her show me all she has to offer.

That floater scrog I'm using is a very good tool to spread plants without the need for ties. I'm posting some pics in my thread later of the Tangie in a floater. She's coming along so nice and well shaped.

Yeah I guess it's a question of defolitaing as much as nessesary for you, but also as little as you can get away with.

I don't think there's any 'one size fits all' with this, as there's too much variation between different peoples environments and growing techniques.

Exactly what ive been shooting for, keeping things tidy and doing my best to prevent a breeding ground for anything uninvited. My space is so small it is absolute I utilize every inch and branch.

Also nothing is getting ran twice until everything gets a shot! No redeux! I have the next 4 runs planned. I'm getting my propagation gear together now. Get everything dialed in to where I'm only training out my flower tent and flip.

These will be going under a trellis. I fucked up my training this round. I also have a feeling these are gonna be HEAVY! Tomorrow or Wednesday I'll have it updated.

Day 54

Your kids wasn't lying about monsters in the closet! Just not thiers lmao! These girls continue to impress me with there growth. Transplanted into 5gal fabric pots and within hours I can see them perk up. I think they sensed the change coming. 50/50 flower girl/veg, no all purpose. The BOO is loving life and has boosted in the last week, Big Bertha still the one to beat. Also made a scrog net(cotton) because I don't care for nylon/polyester blend, looking for alternative material still. Watered them in with BMC and yucca. Let's see if we can make it to September 1st for the flip.

Day 59

We have hit our little boost from the transplant to 5gal. Watering now without the convenience of lifting the pot is going to be interesting but I have great notes on uptake. The drybacks will not be as aggressive to keep the microbes happier. Performed some selective defoiliation and pruned some branches thats just in the way. Will scrog this first net then add another trellis for support. We should be good and full come September 1st.

Day 62

They are drinking well and growth is coming on strong. The 5 gallon made them happy. The FMFX is being finicky but we will get her in flower shape before the 1st of September. Was gonna thin them out tonight but imma wait another week and really hit them before we flip. One thing in addition to lifting my pots for watering when I could; was to check my humidity graph. The days following a watering will have higher highs and higher lows. As they drink up, we will have lower highs and lower lows. 65/60 with exhaust being activated vs. 50/40 on the lowside. If you have a controller be sure to utilize it. I guess maybe I could set me a low humidity alarm at 40, to let me know when it's time. Very happy with this first run, it's only gonna get better.

Food for thought

Alright so this is my first grow using organic dry amendments. Overall drybacks are good for alot of reasons. But one observation I've made is drybacks using oragnics alters the plants ability to uptake what it needs or slows the breakdown in the soil. I'm sure there is science backed articles on this. So running bigger pots is true to maintain moisture balance. Moving forward I will keep a higher moisture level iny soil allow drybacks but not as extreme. We will get this locked in. Whatever method you choose first, be sure to become proficient before moving on to another style. Check this 24hr difference.

After water.

Preflower defoiliation

We thinned these girls out today in preparation for flower. I also powered light engine #2, way too much too early! Both lights at 50% 30 inches above the canopy we're at 28k to 30k across the top. To get the uniform coverage I left them both on but backed them down all the way. Sitting 19k to 21k across the top. Just because you have a million watts doesn't mean you have to use it! Be frugal, the power is there but give them only what they need. We about 10 days out from the flip and we going in strong! Letsss gooo!

This grow is coming along great. Your definitely going to fill that space in flower. That trim is going to help them pop out all over. Your doing solid stuff in here. Fun to watch ya grow ya ass off.
Thank you! Appreciate the support. I'm doing my best, it's so hard to keep my hands off them! Lol

I hope my propagation tent helps with that little bit of loneliness come mid flower lol.

Things look great! Nice observations and problem solving. The canopy is going to bust out tops everywhere!

I feel you with the mid-flower blues.

That's why I run a perpetual. I try to keep something coming out of flower every 2-3 weeks.
Great job on your grow.:weed:

Yup we working through it as they come. The training has been very rewarding so far.

Yes! Them dam blues! Once I get things more dialed in it will be close to perpetual.

Day 67

We are rolling nice into flip day. We are recovering well and filling out the scrogg.. Saturday will be the first day of 12/12. I've been doing a little more research on DLI, we're gonna get to 43 this week before we flip and then maintain that throughout. With the summer heat going away we can afford to push a little harder. The 2 week and 3 week top dress schedule will remain through flower. I'm liking the two week a little better I think. BOO is the two week, 1tblsp per gallon. The FMFX is getting 2tbsp per gallon every 3 weeks.

DLI update

It totally makes sense to blast your plants with light prior to flower. Find the threshold before you step into the critical stage of flower. So the last few days I have showered these plants with photons. As you can see in the picture they are not fans of that much. The leaves became thin to avoid so much light. Pretty cool. In addition doing this in the forgiving veg state will allow you to make adjustments prior to flower. DLI is awesome, because it gets to the point. No " I like to be 20 inches away" "run your lights at this percentage". None of this is bad per se, just ambiguous. The DLI, is the DLI. Regardless of position, horsepower or any other whatever; DLI is a common language that I will be using from here on out. How you get there is your choice, but it remains. It is up to you find what your specific cultivar can tolerate and you should take notes. I feel the BOO has been more sensitive to the intensity than the FMFX, noted.

I did note previously that I wanted to get to a DLI of 43, I went passed that to see what they could tolerate. Actually maxed out 53.98, yeahhhhh! Lol but they made it. I don't think they could maintain that with how I want to run my garden. Today we're back down exactly at 43. We're gonna run this for 1 week, so a few days into flower then adjust. The first few days of flower will obviously be a lower number because we will have 12hr days vs. 18hrs. I also used a sauce cup to shield my sensor as to deter any radiant heat interference. We will see how it works. If you read this entirely, thanks because this was a lot! Lol have a good day!

They look as though they are getting pretty thick. What are your temps and R/H now you increased your DLI?
