Don't ever chase runoff pH in drain to waste. Monitor runoff EC, but don't worry about runoff pH. Due to the cation exchange with the plant, the pH will swing. This is normal and of no concern. When you start bringing your pH down to lower the runoff pH, then you are creating problems.
