Citizen version 6 available ! RIU lagging ?

Hi,

I'm surprised no-one is talking about this ... are people keeping the good info to themselves nowadays ? Or have we stopped doing our research to be spoon fed by sellers ?

On the menu : A small light gain, and a little voltage drop, as was the case with CREE when going CXA => CXB albeit in a smaller proportion.

PS : Also, I've been reading stuff about Horticulture series being cancelled (..) They are available since September if you go thru the right channels.

Salut @tomate

That's why I said available ;) In the past, we haven't waited for "official realeases" to get our hands on things around here.

I can't find a mention of Horticulture cobs anywhere on the internet, yet, they are available since September.
4 Chips (basically 1208 , 1212, 1818 and 3618 declined in 2 versions R+B, and a "white" version)
The horticulture chips have slightly lower initial ppf/W but much better L90 value (lumen maintenance)

If you liked CLU058-1825C4-353M2-K1 you're going to love CLU058-1825C4-353M2M2-F1 !

thanks for sharing infos...

this output improvement are so low, make no sense for me to upgrade from citizen 5 to new ones :(

they have higher L90 rating in compare to normal citizen serie? if yes, why?
edit: okey, i saw at the pdf:
The Horticulture COB LED Series has longer life service than the conventional lighting which has been used for
horticulture applications so far.

What are the right channels to search for more informations about this horticulture line?

:D thanks

edit: tme.eu has allready the price listed at their hompage..... wtf 83,30Euro for 1chip without tax :/... i hope this price is just a placeholder

the # at the endrich pdf looks strange, i think the umol/s numbers are to low.
But im not sure about that, someone need to check it

im really disapointed about the umol/j # if i try to calculate them. i got something like 1,5-2,1umol/j depends what chip size, ma and tc

If i compare the old citizen pdf from 2015 with the new datas there is zero improvments at the new datas. Maybe the new numbers are even worse then the older numbers wtf

Yes,

- Difference between version 5 and 6 doesn't justify an upgrade, according to datasheet. (maybe real life applications will tell another story ...). But for futur builds, it's worth knowing.

- About Horti : Yes, it seems citizen went for long time lumen maintenance, and their "Active-ppf" theory, which is probably the right approach for cheaper builds in more "conventional" low ppf -long term- horticultural applications.
If you plan on using your cobs >50 000hrs with a Tj approching 140°c, then they will be a better option. So probably not for us tho ..

- About "channels", I meant simply Citizen and their distributors, they have a ton of "confidential data" for every question I ask ..
Including PPF data, from which you can see the highest PPF spectrums they have are the 90cri, not 80cri like is thought by many... (But was the case with CREE)

Im just not sure if i can justify the $143 vs the 33 for the cxm32's. Its almost double the output but more than triple the price.

sleeping? i ordered those 2 weeks ago ;)

weve been talking about them but theyre not out till early feb

the catalog has been up on their site since end of october, but that webpage is new to me (and obviously not published

where did you find the gen 6 selection tool?

weird that the horti datasheet is from 2010. ill ask my citi rep about them (again)

ive got these on order as well (in 1212 size). current catalog so im thinking they might be better than the horti series (if you can even buy them). their flux readings are kind of goofy so i need to get down and dirty with the par meter vs a white chip and we'll see. considerably more expensive than the white cobs.

i wonder why the horti line has higher lifetime rating, pdf(endrich) says about horti line: Life-time L90B50 over 70.000 h.
And this new blue ship from citizen, it dont have a phosphor layer on it. So it must have high efficency?

ill bet its just some undoped clear silicone.

should have great efficiency for that purpose.

would be great to have one of those in the center of a 4 cob array to dial spectrum for veg/bloom purposes. maybe the other 4 could be ambers

i just got a few of the amber and blue to try, 1212s they should be something like $18 for the blue and $20 for the amber i guess they cost more because they are specialty/smaller runs? who knows

The blue is probably nice for the efficiency.
But I don't think the amber would be any better for growlights unless you really like the look the colour of a HPS but with higher CRI.

well its an option beyond the usual 2700k

people like the vero decor and thats in the same 1800-2200k range i believe
