well all i'm gonna say is, u do u, if you think Stein, then go with it.....

i would suggest, u might look into her ties with RT and that picture, and remember why RT is banned....js
As someone who's been in journalism since I was a kid watching my dad write for the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News, I know good journalism and I know bullshit.

They got rid of RT because RT kept getting it right when the US mainstream media was lying out their asses.

Yes I do believe in democracy that's why I'm not voting for Stein or Trump....I won't put myself ahead American democracy I'm not that selfish.
How do you figure? The arrogance of Democrats to say they're the only option for democracy when they've blatantly ignored their constituents and delegates to select their last 3 nominees seems pretty disingenuous.

Hillary and joe rightfully won their their primarys. Most D I know don't really seem to care how we came about having Harris as thier canidate, I dont consider myself a D but i never voted for a R. In a 2 party system you vote for the least bad canidate and R's are simply a repolsive opption. I after the state of affairs of 2016-20 i would rather have a vacant whitehouse then Trump so i will vote for the canidate that can realisticly beat him even if that was a hamsandwhich. Shit at this point i would be happy to go back to the GWB days. Anyways this whole last page is entirly off topic this is a tread about climate change not american politics this whole last page of thos thread should be moved or deleted

Fair enough - but I've been watching the lesser of two evils strategy playing out over nearly half a century and I'm here to tell you that it's just an excuse for the rich to run things and for average Americans to get screwed.

So I'm done with it. I'm voting for the BETTER option rather than the "least bad" one and I feel pretty good about it.

Well, boys & girls or whatever, the End of Humankind seems to be approaching relatively rapidly & it seems we/they can't/won't do fucking anything substantial to stop it.

In other words we're fucked as a species/organism & it appears that it's inevitable.

A new United Nations report shows the world is on a “catastrophic pathway” toward a hotter future unless governments make more ambitious pledges to cut greenhouse gas emissions, the head of the UN said last week.

That’s the latest blunt assessment by the United Nations in its 42 page report. The report says that most countries have failed to uphold promises to make deep cuts to greenhouse gas pollution, in order to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate change.

According to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, meeting the more ambitious target of a 2.7 degree Fahrenheit temperature rise would require eliminating fossil fuels almost entirely by 2050.

A review of all the national commitments submitted by signatories of the Paris climate accord until July 30, found that based on detailed information from signatories, this would result in emissions rising nearly 16 percent by 2030, compared with 2010 levels.

“The 16 percent increase is a huge cause for concern,” according to Patricia Espinosa, the UN’s chief climate negotiator, reports the BBC.

“It is in sharp contrast with the calls by science for rapid, sustained and large-scale emission reductions to prevent the most severe climate consequences and suffering, especially of the most vulnerable, throughout the world.”

This shows the world is heading in the wrong direction. Scientists recently confirmed that to avoid the worst impacts of hotter conditions, global carbon emissions needed to be cut by 45 percent by 2030.

That is only 14 years away folks, to curtail at the minimum & reduce simultaneously carbon emissions, or it's fucking game over.

Hah, Ha & Ha :)

What are the odds of that occuring?

None?

The COP26 climate conference is scheduled to take place in Glasgow in just over six weeks’ time. The main focus of the event is to keep alive hopes of limiting the rise in global temperatures by persuading nations to cut their emissions.

Yet, out of the 191 countries taking part in the agreement, only 113 have so far come up with improved pledges. Alok Sharma, the British minister who will chair the COP26 conference, said nations that had ambitious climate plans were “already bending the curve of emissions downwards.”

“But without action from all countries, especially the biggest economies, these efforts risk being in vain,” Sharma added. A recent study by Climate Action Tracker found that of the G20 group of leading industrial nations, only a handful including the UK and the US have strengthened their targets to cut emissions.

Based on the data from the Climate Action Tracker, it is apparent that many countries are trying to fall in line with their targets, but the UN is still waiting for updated plans from many asshole countries. “There are some real laggard nations that we hope to hear from,” says the policy director for the Climate and Energy Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists. They include China, which is the largest emitter of greenhouse gases, as well as Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Brazil.

Another analysis shows that China, India, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey – together responsible for 33 percent of greenhouse gases – have yet to submit updated plans, like not even a fucking word

None/nada/zip

Additionally, the study finds that Brazil, Mexico, and Russia all expect their emissions to grow rather than shrink.

Yup, we're on the right track alright.

Excellent!!!

Humankind will abandon all tribal instincts & greed & come together and save the Planet!!!

I doubt it

This ain't fucking Hollywood, you dumb fucks, & I don't see a happy ending here.

None whatsoever.

Reality is a bitch, ain't it.

Wear a mask/get a jab :)

Unfortunatley people wont stand up and do anything about it until its too late, they are watching the fire burn, and dont realise its going to burn them too, no matter how much money you got, climate change is here, hopefuly im gone before everything is destroyed and i hope life isnt terrible for my daughter, i want her to see wildlife and be able to fish in clean rivers and oceans,

Maybe look at it this way? There is no perfect candidate never has been. There is no perfect party never has been but it sure seems like this would be the perfect time to vote D just because of this republican candidate and the cult he leads. There are consequences for protest votes or sitting out elections because it IS unfortunately a two party system.
Look at what happened with Hillary not winning the electoral vote, which I blame complacency AND the pissed off Bernie or bust heads. A huge setback in climate change policy and how about some more ultra conservative supreme court justices? Imagine the different path we would be on if fewer people had voted for Nader, especially in Florida? Gore would have been better than Bush right? Especially for our climate emergency.

To me it’s black and white but even if it was black and gray wouldn’t gray be the better option? Voting green would essentially be a vote for black.

I think I posted an article from Newsweek in this thread last night that suggested Jill Stein voters are not merely frustrated Democrats. So the assumption that Green Party voters hurt the Dems may not be correct.

Also, I live in safely Blue Colorado; I didn't see the Jill and Butch team getting any electoral college votes here. I'm voting Green because I want better alternatives than "insipid vs insane," both of whom are completely beholden to the oligarchy that's wrecking the country.

Finally and most important; just because they aren't my children, brothers, sisters or parents, just because they aren't my countrymen dying in Palestine by bombs with American flags on them, doesn't make GENOCIDE acceptable in any way. I will not have it on my conscience. I will not vote for anyone who would continue supporting, arming, funding and FUCKING PARTICIPATING in it!

I see the problems as you've laid them out here. I also see reason for hope.

One big positive sign is the exponential growth of renewable energy generation year over year, with the trend showing no signs of slowing. Solar and wind power, the growing adoption of EVs and the exponentially growing flood of grid scale battery storage capacity all point to drastic reductions in fossil fuels use coming within within a decade.

Y'all want a hot stock tip? Batteries are the new plastics.

Yeah the war over there is disgusting. From day one I knew this was gonna happen. But. You got this administration that recognizes that innocent Palestinians are being killed and was pushing hard for aid to get there. Refused to send some types of heavy bombs knowing damn well the IDF would have killed even more innocents. Repeatedly pressuring Netanyahu for a ceasefire.

And then you got tRump. First of all he says it would have never happened if he were potus. Uh huh. But how do you think a republican administration would be handling this right now? I bet it would be different. Like 1000% aid, whatever they want, at whatever the cost to innocents. Totally fucked up shit over there right now but again, one party would make shit worse dontcha think?

We've seen over the past year how Biden supported Israel's genocide..

Biden, a former vice president and senator, has long been a top recipient of the pro-Israel lobby, receiving over $5.2 million in support over the last 34 years, the most of any Congressional recipient, according to OpenSecrets.
&
Only two days ago, the US approved $20bn in weapons sales to Israel. In the same week, Kamala Harris called for a ceasefire at her rally in Arizona after pro-Palestine protesters interrupted her, for the second time in a week. Meanwhile, pro-Israel lobby groups have paid her $5,395,227.

Do you really think there will be a difference?..
