Clone of A clone of A clone of a clone?

Can you do this? I don't particularly want to take up extra space keeping a mother plant alive so could I potentially clone a plant and then grow that clone and take a cutting of that and continue to do this? Will this result in any problems?

i have done a clone of a clone of a clone, but that's far as i've gone
based on other's posts and experiences, a clone can be kept going for many generations
though there may be exceptions

not really.

without getting into a lot of genetic jargon and blowing your brains out you ear. this is really all you need to know, take GOOD cuts well grown shoot and a few leaves, in the case of say taking one ot these clones to make mother, sometime if you cut a clone it can genetically degrade if you continue cloning off this line it will only get worse. but so long as you are taking good cuts and growing them out fully before more cuts it should never present a problem

I heard if you do this you lose potency ???
I have been growing perpetually this way for going on my third year with several strains. I started doing it this way because keeping mothers caused too much work constantly trying to keep a plant that wants to grow big and keeping her stunted, so to speak. I take cuttings from my plants that are in veg. and approx. 2-3 weeks from them going into the flip cycle. These cuttings get rooted and put in the container that they'll grow out in (Hydro, Ebb & Flow) so I have no transplanting problems. I simply pick up the growth container that sits a top the bottom reservoir, and take this into my bloom area. No shock, and the transition becomes simple and smooth. The veg'd plants get another 2 weeks of recovery (from cuttings taken) and this gives me time to root the cuttings, place into their respective containers and veg for 4 weeks with the cuttings taken, recovery and on & on, over & over, again & again. The system works great, saves space and time, and allows for a perpetual hatvest every month of 6 plants averaging about 1-1/2 lbs/month! Great hobby, perhaps someday, i'll know what I'm really doing.

I have heard that the potency lessens. If this is so, I haven't seen this to be the case. If anything, I can predict everything the time a certain phase takes, the looks of the leaflets and the potency, taste and smell, er, I mean aroma. They haven't let me down, ever!

THANK YOU 100% on the money. Absolutely the most important factor... I am always fearful, but do it anyway, in taking my cuts from those awesome adventous tips.

its like a fax of a fax. well one thing is the clone has been in vegs as long as the original mother plant, so say ur clone is some "y2k kush" clone of a clone of a clone.... that plant is 12 years old even tho its like a 3 day old clone in ur room today. i have heard old clones can lose vigor. not potency tho.
