If you have a Strain you like and want to keep it going. Clones are nice but what do you do if you have no place for the Clones?

Hate to just throw them away. Have seed of other Strains that look interesting.

Yep, you can take two clones and use silver thiosulfate to reverse one clone to pollenate the other. The genetics will be saved though with slight variation.

I think I might be reading this wrong.

Topping the plants I like but have no where to go with the Tops. My Son had same problem and just put his in with other 12/12 Light, they immediately went to Bloom.

Just put the cut in like a 2x2 rockwool cube and let the cut grow and then take a cut off the cut after a month and keep it going forever if your space is that limited. U can buy something like this for extra veg lights on the cheapScreenshot_20220721-155035_Chrome.jpg

If it is that good, reveg it. I have never had trouble doing this and kept a strain alive for over 16 years so far, revegging the hell out of it.

Can just put Clones under cheap grow light until I have room in a Tent.

Had good luck just putting Clones in soil. Some look like there is no way, cut off bad looking part and stand back usually grows catching up with others.

Unfortunately if you have no place for the clone you probably have no where to put two clones and reverse one to make seeds so prob your only option would be reveg but that will take time so may not be the best option

I won't have Tent ready until my Grow is done.

Have 3 plants I Topped their Clones went elsewhere.

I could Top them again and hope I have a Tent ready when they are going. The Tent will be ready about a month.

I have Seeds of a Strain that is supposed to be good so could use them but I'm really wanting to continue with this Strain.

Topping for me is usually just pinching a node. If you're cutting off legit clone-worthy tops, try this:

Wrap the cuts in a moist paper towel or two, stick in a ziploc bag, and keep in the fridge. A buddy did this and i believe the cuts lasted MONTHS, like a good 2 or 3, and were still totally cloneworthy.

I just left some like that on a counter under a light for two weeks just fine. Refreshed the air once a day and they just chilled till I got my cloner back

Keep in mind that clones don’t have to go in a tent unless you want too, they will grow just fine anywhere with light, water and food. I have never grown in a tent and most likely never will.

That would work great Thanks!

I go with Tent because my understanding is Photos need dark to Bloom. I have my Tent in my room and found the Grow Light is too much, plus I leave the Light on in room across from it.

Right now my Girls it the Tent are Budding good so it won't be too long.

I have 3 Clones that are rooting now I can probably get back or I can cut some more.

I really should read post. I have a Window I can set them in on West side but there is trees out there. I might have a cheap Grow Light around here or I could just get one.

Chicken or the egg??
I have been growing photos from seed.
This last round I had a plant that I would love to keep going however when starting out, how do you know if you would like to carry on a strain without knowledge of what the flower will be like?
It would seem you would need to clone before flowering and then only grow the clone if it was nice?
Which came first- chicken or the egg?

Ideally, you take a couple clones from each plant right around when it matures and label them. That way you don't have to reveg them and they should be positively identified as females by then. That way if you finish a plant and want to rerun it, you have the mature clone already ready to roll. If you find a plant you don't care for, bin the clones of that plant.

I don’t have space to keep a large amount of plants going- I see some are just wrapping and storing them in the fridge until ready to root. Is this a good option or is it better to begin rooting immediately after cutting?

You could bur a small 2x2 tent and out it in the corner of your room with some t5s.
Its not ideal but what i do because I have no room either, is clone them put them in small pots under t5s yntill I'm ready for them. They get root bound and don't grow much after awhile, but still look healthy. Once I'm ready an put them in their 5 gal pots there fine.
