I put 18 clones in on july 3rd and so far theyve all gotten to about 3-4 feet tall but they arent really flowering yet. Im a bit worried because the first frost is October 5th and that doesnt leave much time for flowering. There are lots of budding sites on the plants with leafs and a couple hairs but thats about it...
Would it be possible to cover my plants with a tarp for the first frost to keep growing them for longer?
i have pics from the 22nd here

Yours look close. 5-7 days and you should see lots of pistils. You certainly can cover them to stop frost damage, but usually it'll be the mould that gets the plants before the frost. Once that starts, it's game over for continued growth and you got cut out the mould and save the rest.

Anyway, those plants look a bit on the indica side, so I think you'll be fine, barring some freakishly cold autumn.

Oh yeah, it looks like I see little pistils out the top of the bud sites. If so, your plant already is flowering.

I've kept tomato plants alive outdoors by putting garbage bags over them so I'm sure you could with a tarp. Just make sure there isn't anything sticking out.
