Clones Veg Time/Planning?

Hey guys! Doing photos for the 1st time, which I want to take clones.

Setup:
4x4 for flower
2x4 for veg
2x2 which I'd like to avoid, but can use if really beneficial.

Plan for seed run:
Pop 4 seeds, veg them, take clones (5 each), give 1 more week of veg to recover, flower for 9 weeks.

That means that the 4x4 will be busy for 10 weeks, after taking the clones.

Plan for clones run:
- 2 weeks for rooting (20 clones)
- 4 weeks in 1 gallon pots (maybe 2gal?)
- Pick a pheno, transplant for 5gal, give 4 more weeks in veg, waiting for the 4x4 to be free again.

Questions:
- Overall plan, seems ok?
- Veg clones for 4 weeks in 1 gallon pots, is it ok?
- Transplant the keepers for 5gal pots, and veg them for 4 more weeks, is it ok as well?
- Choosing a pheno in beginning of week 6 of flower, is it ok? Obviously would be better to harvest/cure/smoke, but my Vegging space is quite limited here.

My main doubt is about holding those clones until I actually pick a pheno (around week 5/6), and still hold the keepers while flower test is free.

Feel free to give your thoughts, would love to hear some more experienced words!

Many thanks in advance!

Vegging the clones for 4 weeks in one gallon pots is fine. I keep mother plants in these size pots for quite awhile. The clones you take are going to be 8 weeks old by the time you get them to the flower room and will be pretty big by then. It's pretty close to what I do and I supercrop them all as they get tall. Trying to pick a keeper without doing a smoke test is up to you. I'd run a cycle through the tent and then another cycle of other strains after it. You can keep the clones from the first run in Solo cups a good while you dry and sample buds. If you have a winner from the first run then veg it out to run after the second cycle. They will still get a good veg time and be more reasonable in size for a 4x4 tents height restrictions. It's great when it works out but it can get stressful trying to juggle the plants around. Hope you find a great system that works for you.

It all sounds good on paper. But be prepared for the fact your plants will likely take longer to flower than 9 weeks. I was saying, in another thread, putting deadlines on a harvest never works out, because they take as long as they take. Just because the seed breeder/vendor says they take 9 weeks means nothing, the estimates on the packet are for marketing purposes only. Once I get to week 4 of flower I stop counting the days/weeks.

This morning I had two of one strain completely ready to go, yet their 3 sisters have at least another week, maybe 2.
