Cloning aeroponics

Greetings, folks. I have built my aeroponic cloner. It is basically a tote with a pump misters and the pvc structure. I rook cuttings and planted them about two days ago. I have a question that I need answered clearly. I was told that when i have sum roots, i should move them into rockwool and put that into hydroton. My question is, how would i do this. You could hurt the roots by trying to stick them in the rockwool. They have the rockwool with the slit in the middle, but even then, am i supposed to totally cover the small roots inside? wouldnt that be too aggressive for the roots? And how long should they be wen i do it? If anyone has a better way of moving from the cloner to the grower, please let me kno, i have an aeroponic system for my growing, also.

no just split the rockwool and go farthest down to the roots with out hurting them lik you said. so basically you dont put roots in the rockwool from my understanding

Start off by putting your cutting into whats called a smart start. Bark compost organic preformed deal for catcht the moisture 14 days later you'll have root mass of about half the size of your hand provided you used clonex gel. Take a 4 inch rockwool cube that soaked over night in ph of your choice 5.8. Take and line the bottom of the cube with cocoa coir then put in the clone and pack coco quar arount the smart start then put a cube cap on top of your rockwool. Your off to the races. http://s580.photobucket.com/albums/ss241/pinner420mt/ Here your will find a recycled daisy cloner with a computer fan rolling a 3 head ocean mist fogger. I'm gonna upgrade though to a roughneck tote for more water capcity. The daisy only holds enough water for a twelve hour period uggg. Anyway fogger busts down the water dropplets to .06 microns for better stomata penetration. If your not clever evough to build it go to www.futuregarden.com and hunt for a nutramist. Also key factor for you is this get a nft timer 1minute on 4 minute off. If you don't have one get one.

i have seen it done different ways. most goto the rockwool cubes. the last time i cloned the root structure seemed to support its self. so i used no rockwool.

i put a thread together from cut to 20days. https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/143376-cloning-homemade-power-cloner.html

you can see how far those clone went before a argument with the wife caused there death here. https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/129393-yelodrvrs-next-attempt-2.html

check this link out if your interested on how i use the rock wool and hydro tron. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/176009-another-go-yelodrvr.html

its with seeds but its all the same in concept.

i like the split rockwool. but again nowadays i use nothing for clones.

i would wait till you see a root structure somewhere between these two pic before you go into the rock wool. that just my 2cents from a newbie.

edit
you dont have to be so gentle with the roots. they grow back. i had them get a tangled up in the cloner and i just pull them apart. now you cant drop kick them or anything, but i have ripped them beyond what i though would kill them and they come back. the hydro store guy has instructed me in the past to cut of roots that where discolored and it worked with no ill effect.

I've always dropped rooted clones into the net cup and gently surrounded them with hydroton. I don't know why you would possibly need the rockwool at this point, they're already rooted?!?!?

Get rid of the rock wool! It is messy and A pain to dispose of. I root in A DIY aero cloner and the straight into hydrtron and off to the SOG tray's

I see i see. Is there any thing I can do to reduce the possibility of shock from the change of environment? Really appreciate it guys. Ive had my clones in my aeroponic cloner for 8 days now still no roots its getting frustrating. I used clonex gel and thats it. Will clonex rooting solution make it go faster next time?

the gel is useless in your situation it just get wash ofonce youturn on your machine. the solution is much better for areo cloning.

Beautiful. Oh and gud news, i had 6 clones 5 of them rooted one has roots 2 cm long. My next question for you fine folks is. When should i start feeding nutrients? I have the GH 3 part. Im gonna wait til the roots get about 3/4 the length of my 5 inch net pots, then i will transport to my aeroponic system and fill the pots with hydroton, gently spreading the roots around it as i fill. Sound right? Thanks in advance. Also, my clones are 4 inches long. Im trying to yield big with these huge pots and the advantage of aeroponics. How long should i veg the clones for after today (Roots showed today) if i want 4-5 oz per plant? How long should they be in the end?

I would be giving them 1/4 str nut's now! And as far as the system you are using is what your time frame is.. Mine go right into flower

I dont really have a time frame. Im aiming for however long it takes to get those 4-5 oz. How tall should they be when i begin flowering?
