Exactly, if each clone is just that: A PERFECT genetic replicant of the plant it was cloned from, there is no degradation of genetics.
You'd have more of that with a Filial cross, with a clone its as though it Budded (used in the context of a form of A-Sexual Reproduction) and the resulting plant(s) are simply tantamount to extensions of the first plant, growing independently.
Ergo, Clone= ... Well, a clone. The word couldn't be any more rudimentary in its definition.
I'd like to know the logic behind the assertion that cloing causes a decline in genetics.
Perhaps in growing out more of the same plant via clones you are able to encounter more of the inherent problems in the genetics of said plant you wouldn't have encountered on a single plant, 1 harvest grow basis... But those faults/phenos would be there already, cloning would have only given you the time to experience them all.
