Cloning from my Mother

to the master cloners from RIP....

should i wait to start cloning from this plant until more secondary branches grow like the one indicated by the red arrow?

I think you could start taking a few clones off the bottom now but that's just me. How many clones do you want? I usually only take 1 from a plant at a time but I do a perpetual 1 plant a week grow
so only need clones to keep it going.

well, when i finish constructing my cloning machine, i'll want 4 to do in my tent over the winter months. Realistically, i won't be starting to clone for another month but what confuses me is how many clones i can get from a mother before using one of the clones as my 2nd generation mother.

do i make sense? i want to maximize use out of this mother before deciding to grow another mother plant from a clone.

Nope, no sense at all. ;)

You can take 1 or 1 million clones from a plant and they will all be the same.

You can take a clone from a clone from a clone from a clone and so on and it will be the same.

These are not copies, these are clones. They are identical. Now, if you take two clones and treat them differently then you might see different traits appear or disappear. They think of those as environmental phonemes.

let me rephrase the question...

how many clones can one mother provide?

Its been explained to me that eventually i'll need to take a clone from this mother and grow into another mother. Reason being, that no mother can provide an infinite number of clones. So if i want to continue with this strain, i'll need to produce another mother to keep providing more clones.

With that being said, i want to maximize the number of clones off of this plant. So will waiting for more secondary branches before taking cuttings increase the longevity of this mother?

I plan on taking 4 clones in a month and i know that this plant will provide much more than this but, i need to understand at what point she will not be able to provide more clones.

thanks,
