so i tried cloning twice... the first time (on different plants) i chopped the top growth tips off around the 3.5week mark and put them in rockwool cubes with some roottech gel as per the directions on the rockwool (soak to 5.5) and the gel.... put inside a cloning dome under some extra CFLs from an aerogarden and waited awhile...... till the plants eventually died
i later read that too much moisture would stunt root growth and that they needed a little dampness and not wetness to sprout roots... so this time i took lowest branch cuttings with a few nodes on them and made my cut as close to the main stem as possible... scraped off a little bark from the end of the 45* angle cut and then dunked it in the gel.... this time i put it into an (almost) dry rockwool cube... i took it straight out the grodan package and then maybe 20mL or so (got a little oral syringe) of pH5.5 water and put a few drops on all sides of the cube with a lil extra down the stem hole
... now i've waited like 5 days or so and they are definitely not looking so hot.... (severe wilting/shrivelling even with application of wilt-pruf spray and some condensation forming on walls of dome)
in a SUCESSFUL and LEAST STRESSFUL cloning scenario, shouldnt i have already seen vibrant root growth by now? i believe if it takes like 2weeks or anything over 5 days something is wrong.... i've read ALL (like 5) of the cloning techniques posted on this site... and everyone seems to have their own way of doing things... some, like the "cup of water on a windowsill" will just not work with my setup (rockwool into bubbleponic to veg then aeroponic to flower) since they'd produce clones with exposed roots ready for soil....
one thing i may be doing wrong is the location of my cuts? and how many leaves remain on the new clone when you stick it in the cube.... extremely detailed info as to location and manner of actual technique would be very helpful... like how many nodes, EXACTLY what the fuck to do with the water/pH/rockwool so as to have the correct balance, and what bout the lights, i got about 2800 lumens hitting them right now cuz i dont have my shit in the proper place yet (i think it's supposed to get like 500 or so lumens to clone?) what happens if i keep the lights on it hardcore like this? will they solarize or is it just waste of light?
ps, the mother plants are very very brollick (that means large and healthy; vibrant, even) looking at like 5weeks old now and have plenty more nodes and branches to cut so i can try a whole bunch more..... i just dont wanna keep killing the poor things!
thanks for the help
