Cloning issues

I have always used rootech and soil plugs to start with great results. With the cold season, temps in basement dropped to 68 with 22% humidity. To compensate, i added a heat matt with a towel in between the tray and mat. The soil is warm, there is humidity. They are just looking cooked. Is the temperature of the soil a possible culprit? Should i remove it and lower light? How much humidity and what temp is optimal. I have a humidifier if need be for the room itself.

It was the cold temps that did this combined with a poor quality mother. The temp in the clone box should always be 80+ .Use domes if you have to keep temps up.

Also start again they are fucked.

Adjusted for 80 -84 degrees with extraction fan. The dome is misty all over so i opened the tabs a little more. We shall see

84 degrees, 75% humidity. Is the humidity still too high?

To give a up to date report if anyone reads this. My problem along with humidity and temp was sodic soil. I transferred the soil plugs into wetted promix. The mixture with humidity kept the soilless mix wet. I put the plugs into pots too early. The roots were barely exposed and sitting in a wet mix. I re potted with dry mix, gonna let the plugs dry a bit in there then do a light water. My other newer clones had not rooted yet when I transferred, I found that out during repotting. I dipped me again and put them in new plugs, they are swollen, looks like rooting soon. So I guess my big mistake was overwatering along with too high humidity and temp. Watching them like a hawk.

Humidity should be closer to 100

Will use of a heat Matt burn the root system? I'm thinking, raise the light way up, heat Matt for humidity and temp

hey man.. try Anti Wilt.. by VitaGrow.. we spray our clones with this stuff for winter cloning.. allows your plants to not dry out as quick.. and allows them to stay nice and green all the way to rooting.. also.. my rooting ends up taking longer in the winter because of temps.. but i still get great looking clones.. just gota b e sure to transplant them at the right time.. so they continue to take off and not get all droopy.

I will. I have never had a problem. It's like the room is way colder and dryer than usual winters. I'll grab some tomorrow. These clones though were of poor quality. The worst cuttings I've ever had. I'm keeping mothers from now on.

What are the thoughts on running 24 compared to 18/6. Im doing 24. Ive always gone 18/6.........

Sprayed the cuttings with vita grow anti wilt, great stuff. Seeing positive results only a few hours later!

i use 24/0.. but .. i was told to atleast use 22/2 .. so that they can rest and shit.. but i didnt see a difference between the 2 .. so i stayed with 24/0.. but i will say.. u dont want to stay at 24/0 if u plan on tossing them outside.. for clones going outside i use 18/6 . but with 24/0 it seems like they switch to flower a little quicker. .. as in the stretch doesnt last as long...

the anti wilt works as a preventative and a healer .. so u can kinda get your clones back to health with it ..

best way to use .. is to spray your mother with it before you cut your clones off.. allowing it to dry.. then take the clones.. and as your cutting them off the mother place them in a beer cup .. with a few drops of anti wilt in the water.. allow them to sit for 1-4 hours.. and then plop them in your medium.then. put in jiffy pellets.. rapid rooters.. or a cloner.. and spray them again.. with anti wilt.. u dont need to use a dome .. but you will have better results with the dome.. .. another thing.. i use it at half Strength.. and it never failed me yet.. so full strength is just trying to get you to keep buying bottle after bottle...

i hope this helps... i also sometimes if i dont have time to get the clones into the cloner or pellets.. i will leave them in the beer cup with the anti wilt solution.. for up to 7 days in the winter.. MAX.. and only 2 days in the summer max.. or if i dont have the room for new plants.. ill stall them a little.. some plants will root in the cups.. which has happened.. ive had cuts root in 4 days in a cup of water.. its wierd.

They are looking much better. I re sprayed today because they were a little wet when I sprayed them first. Humidity is not even registering, it's over 100, temp 88

I've never had an issue cloning and I only use a little root hormone(rootone) and put directly into a cup of water about 2 inches deep and place in the window seal. I actually left them there for weeks until I was able to transplant to tent. The roots got many inches long and circled the cup multiple times. At first, they'll start to swell then look like little warts growing.....those are the root.

my problem is my clones are touching the top of the dome.. gonna need a new one me thinks
