Cloning - Main Stem?

My mother marijuana plant is outdoors. I have previously taken clones from the side shoots. These however were pretty small. On the top of the plant I noticed about two inches of a heavy growth activity, no leaves yet, probabally nodes and such. This area of the plant seems optimal for a clone. Is it possible to take clones by chopping the top of the main stem? Will this hurt the mother in anyway?

i think thats what you do to top it but i dont know if you can clone that, i suspect you can

Yes the top will clone, its just like every other site with new leaves coming out the top.
