Cloning mother in late flower

Should have made this decision to save the genetics a while back obviously. Don't care how long it takes, but she's been hardy and is going to produce a nice yield. Going to sacrifice 2 smaller branches that have some fan leaves and probably snip off the buds on the lower portion. Wanted to take 2 clippings.

Plan is to put both clippings in the ez cloner with a humidity dome keeping things around 70° and 80% humidity.

Am I wasting my time?

I've done it but they take forever to go back into veg . I'd take clones and leave a bit on the plant and reveg it . I got some beautiful mother plants by revegging .
Thank you that's what I'm aiming for. Totally fine if they take a while, just hoping they survive. I tried to make sharp angled cuts and dipped them in rooting compound for 30 sec although im pretty sure the misters are gonna blow that gel off pretty quick. Misted them real good with 250ppm water (best I can do), 16" leds on 10% and misters running 24hrs

make sure you leave a few good buds if your going to reveg her, it seems a crime, but its worth it in the long run. ive had plants where the buds i left were too small (popcorn buds), so just to let you know. a few lower buds should do it

I have better luck cloning a lower bud than reveg. It can be done. Just treat it like any other clone. Once it strikes roots plant as usual once some veg growth starts you can nip away the old bud. I reciently did a bud of Ak 907 Bluegeans.
Bud starting to go into veg.

To full fledged plant. Was doing a S1 project with her and forgot to keep a clone.

Thanks guys I ended up putting 4 clippings in the humidity dome and only took buds off the lower couple inches of the stems

I’ve got one now that took probably 3 weeks to root and 2 months to show new growth ,but she finally did, patience is key and give it a good spray everyday, plain water, seems to help, in my opinion.

How far into flower are they?

Up to 6/7wks 12-12 is doable assuming you can clone?

Humidity domes aren't advisable for rooting buds its begging for mould.

after 6/7 weeks 12-12 rooting on the plant is a more reliable option, the mum keeps it alive untill it roots.

Check out air layering.
Mother is actually just about to finish up week 6, so maybe with a little luck they will survive. Appreciate the info, I'll take the dome off and just stick the ez cloner in my veg tent like I should have done in the first place. Thank you

6/7 wks you should be OK with them?

For plants late in flower you can't afford to loose.

Good luck
