cloning old school

thanks MsBBB i too know it not mold now i know what mold is and i showed it to my mom she has done cuttings of other plants like that for years aqnd said thats how they all started i can actually start to see bumps now where bigger roots are starting to push through i looked at it real close and its def just little roots they had me all worried and i orederd cloning gel but hey they didnt have rooting hormones hundreds of years ago when it started like this i know a hormone helps speed things up but its not needed im just concerned about gettin ready to plant for spring i got plenty time for that cuz there still snow on the ground here thanks your two cents was worth a million

it seriously is mold, but lots of plants do that and still survive. once you start to see roots you will probably notice the lower part of the stem that is currently fuzzy will start to die off. roots dont start as wispy hairs and thicken up, they start like wierd white tumors on the stem.

idk man i change the water i know they aint the roots thats goin to be there but perhaps its what the plant uses to live until it has roots maybe its a temporary thing im starten to see bumps now

I tried to find the example that I referred to saying wha you have is not mold. But of course I could not find it. The example that I saw showed the tip area covered in fuzzy white hairs. I personally saw it on one of clones and mistakened it for mold until I realized that it was not mold. I still say you don't have mold. You let me know if I am wrong, which won't be the first or last time.:leaf::leaf::finger:

I'm real curious to see how this turns out. I've never cloned in water before, but I would assume the same nodules would have to form for the roots to grow, but I didn't see any in his pics...

Water works ok,so does just cutting and popping in the dirt under a dome without hormones.
This way here is 100% as long as no kinking occurs.
This is an easy way to do some cuts.First a healthy plant in veg with some good branching, side and top views.
I use an old cutting board,a rusty razor, sharp fine pointed scissors and roottech gel.
You don't need any hormones at all to take cuts successfully but it speeds up the process and the plants are less beat up by the time they root.
How the branch looks removed with nodes attached and stripped off,I just pinch them off be careful not to kink the stem.......kinking is bad.
Stick in gel let sit for 30 seconds or so.
In this case I'm using peat pellets but it'll work in just about anything that will keep the cut from drying out while it's rooting.
Soak the pellets overnight or they'll suck the moisture outta the cuts with bad results.
Poke hole in pellet, stick cut all the way down again careful not to kink the stem.
Form pellet around stem,gently.......then dunk in water to replace what ya squeezed out by forming then put in a dome.I'm using a cake box, they come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes plus ya getta cake.......fucking A.
In this case they're about 12"s under a 42 watt cfl, just leave'em alone they don't like being messed with.
Roots take anywhere from 5 to 15 days depending on plant and temp,I will take some pics and explain how I quick harden them off and pot'em when these root.
Now the donor plant provided 6 cuts and has 4 main branches, ready to be up-potted and flowered tomorrow.

got clonex rooting gel and recut plants and shaved a lil of the skin off and dipped in rooting gel put them in medium they are under domes and under cfls not close not to far away and tey are looking like crap leaves turning yellow one fell off i think i would have been further ahead to leave them in the water but think its to late now

Sounds like they are too close too the light,I really like a gentle flouro at least 12"s away from the top of the dome.

i only have one left and it looks healthy other then the bottom leaves are yellowing the top leaves are starting to rise up and maybe a little new growth but still no roots

this thing just will not grow roots ive tried everything i recut it and scraped and put more clonex on it and it will just not grow roots i have put it back in the water cuz it started looking bad everytime i put it in medium there are little tiny hair like things which i know for a fact arent mold just single little hairs far apart the leaves are growing but will not grow roots if the leaves keep growing i know it will use up all its energy for the leave ive cut them but they keep growing slowly i really wanted to save this it was the best dope ive ever smoked and i cant get no more seeds till harvest this fall when he grows again i just cant wait that long to grow my own of this kind and idk what strain it is its starting to smell pretty skunky if worst comes to worst im just gunna dry it and smoke the darn thing

Dude. Don't give it nutrients while rooting, that's why you're getting leaf growth but no roots. Read my above post, follow that and you should be fine.
