Cloning? Your doing it wrong!!

Well as if I dont have enough problems, All my clonies are dieing.
Ive never had any problems cloning until now. Im cloning directly into soil, using Thrive Alive B1 soaked soil with rooting gel. Watering once a day.

Whats happening is the tips of the leaves are dieing, and so they stop growing, eventually this behaviour spreads up the little plant, to the Apical tip, and it stops growing all together.
What am i doing wrong!!

Saw you had 40 views and no replies....hate that!

Dude????? I had the same problem last summer, 2 outa 13 survived.....make sure your soil is loose, when I pulled mine up they had started decent roots, but the soil was really compact, I think this added to the problems...i've build myself a bubbler now.....best o luck....

looks like too much water and too much light, I do mine in soil and never water em, let the humidity in the dome keep em moist, and too much light makes em wanna grow, to do that they pull stored nutes outta the leaves

ah yes, come to think of it i started this batch right under the 1000w HPS. I must have become overconfident after the last batch. Maybe i should go back to the cloner tray, im just tired of green moss/sludge forming in the tray ><

Also try cutting the tips off the leaves, almost in half. This cuts down on transpiration and processes that need roots to perform

im going to assume its the light a 1000w is in no way a clone light lol soft light all the way but this sometimes happens to my clones when they take a while to root i use a very light nute mix and foliar feed once in a while and it helps.

add a bit of H2O2 to the water in the tray

I think the green mold/sludge/moss growing in the water is due to bacteria in the nutes. It spreads to the peat pots as well and then if i plant those peat pots green stuff starts forming on top of the soil. I dont think its doing any harm though. Im entirely convinced if i put covers over the soil that it wouldnt grow. happens every time i use a cloner tray i think because the light is incubating the bacteria.
Im gonna go back to the 400w MH and cloner trays though. Better to have a bit of a sludge problem than dead clonies.

Also something I've learned is when I cut back on the N for a few days before cloning they root way faster. This time I didn't do it n my clones are at day 8 with no signs of roots formin at all and there in my aero cloner.

dont fill tray with water.
get small pots. my dome is clean enough to eat off.

I use rockwool cubes. Soak the cubes overnight in superthrive (1 drop/gal) next day cut your specimens, on a large angle, even scrape a little extra stem matter away carefully to expose more potential root area. Place cut specimens in a bowl of the same water you soaked in, let sit for 15 minutes. Dip stem thoroughly in gel or powder ( I use powder) and gently push them down into cube. Now place them reasonably spaced into a cloning/humidity dome, that's it, your done for about 5 days. Make sure you use flourescent lighting and keep the top of the dome within 1-2 inches. Spray them with lukewarm distilled water once to twice a day after they sit for the 5 days. They will be showing roots within 10-14 days if not sooner. I do this exact formula and have never had one single clone not root. 100% SUCCESS

oops I forgot to mention to cut just the larger leaves in half. To better explain cut each blade in half on each leaf, leaving stubby leaves, only the larger ones though.
