Hello everyone,
This is my first grow and I am finally approaching harvest time for my two plants (GSC and NYC Diesel). I want to try and get a gauge of where I'm at in the flowering process so I can time the flush right. Attached are labeled pictures of buds + trichomes under microscope. Since the top cola's are looking a lot more mature than the bottom popcorn buds, I took pics at the top, middle and bottom portions of each plant for comparison.
Estimated Harvest times:
GSC: 60 days
NYCD: 70 days
CURRENTLY DAY 45 OF FLOWER.

How much longer do you think they will be until harvest? When should I start flushing them?
What do people think the clear:cloudy trich ratio is?

Ps I already know NYCD is having a bit of issue with Calcium right now. I'm working on it. Hey, the buds look great!

I would start the flush,in a bout 7 days. 45 days is early pretty much where i'm at,push it for at least another 12/14 days.wait till they start popping of them crowns

They are well ahead of time, both strains i have run and they have all ways gone 9 week, the gsc sometimes finishes at week 8
great looking plants how long did you veg for

Thanks! I'm quite proud of my first (legit) grow right now. The buds are COVERED in trichs and they look and smell great too. I have a lot of research experience as I'm in the sciences for a living (also I could use a pH meter like a boss before even growing lol). It's incredible how much that helped... so at least all that school was for SOMETHING hahaha. Weed = Chemistry. Anyways:

First of all what is "popping off the crowns"? Cuz I have never heard of that phrase before lol.

They vegged for quite a while. Checked my grow notebook - looks like a total of 9 weeks - damn. That is longer than I thought. Granted a good amount of that time was very slow growth as I was still learning nutrients and what each plant (or marijuana in general for that matter) likes. Also I built my setup slowly over time. Now they are in a good set up - tent plus 400 watt HPS cool tube. Craigslist was heaven building my set up.

Is it bad that they seem to be finishing so early or is that just a result of the extra veg time and totally normal? ...not complaining lol, the exciting harvest will be sooner than I thought!

And to be clear - you would suggest flushing BOTH strains in 7 ish days?
Or should I start flushing GSC in 7 days, then start NYCD in 14 ish days? (Since NYCD tends to take a bit longer.) Though NYCD actually has more brown hairs than GSC does now... does that mean it's father along than GSC somehow?

Nice grow, here's a chart on when you should harvest, or you can just harvest at different stages to see which one you like...your choice but don't forget the curing process! That's VERY important.

a lot of people don't flush, rather just dial down there nutes for the last few waterings. i'm not sure of the medium you are using, but usually 50% less nutrients for the last 3 waterings or so should do you.

I don't do chemical growing I do organics but most folks say that flushing is a waste of time and others feel flushing is a must and start the flush 1 wk to 10 days before harvest, stop feeding 2 wks just give water but maybe someone who does Chem grow will chime in.

if using synthetics, reduce feeding amount (ec or ppm) 50% for the last 3 waterings and your flush will be complete.

Im growing in coco. Similar to hydro but has qualities of soil too.

Samson I trust you but really no flush at all? I've heard it's a lot smoother when you flush it. I've never heard this before.

why cause deficiencies when they are going through the hardest part of their life? Coco is easily released of extra nutes as long as you weren't overdoing the feeding (as mentioned and by the pics you look like you should be ok).

If you really think they nutes in your coco are going to cause harshness in your smoke then why don't you add some jolly ranchers to your next watering to make it taste like jolly ranchers. Get my drift? I could show you some pictures of people who keep their shit green all the way up until harvest, but i'm sure if you look around you'll find them.

Like @Blunted 4 lyfe said: try it each way and see what happens. If I were you, I would be more worried about the dry and cure. That's where the harshness more often than not comes from.

Now try to hold back your excitement because you're about to be really happy when you see what a little patience and a lot of learning can get you. :D

Thank you!!

Also I enjoy that it took commenting "#Feel the Bern" to get people to help me out a bit. Well done rollitup
