Closet Grow Venting

Everyone will smell you if you grow in the closet and don't scrub the air. You're whole apartment will stink. Your clothes will all smell. Etc etc etc

I have a closet grow. I took all my clothes and everything out and used a tarp and panda wrap toseal it and block any light so it's pitch black in there without lights. I have the duct sealed around with the tarp and wrap and it vents into my room. The RH would accumulate in the room so I had to use a big dehumidifier. Since then I've added another exhaust fan in there that vents outside, but you don't need to do that. You might need a dehumidifier though depending. No dehumidifier needed at all though venting outside, at least for me.

1000 watts of HID lighting might be hard to handle without running AC. But it could be done. I only had 1 6" exhaust fan and 2 315 CMH lights and it was doable. LED would be easier to deal with I think.

Your sticking a what in a what? 600 hps in a 4x2? A 250 mh is all that thing needs for veg 400 hps max flower and that's air cooled. Please don't tell your sticking a 600 and 400 in that tent because you want to mix the spectrum because that is bonkers.

I would get an LED. Never grown with HPS but do know they need a lot more circulation. You don't have to have Mylar to reflect light--it help a whole lot but not required. I have heard about "low odor" strains that are out there but don't know about that. If you ditch the tent and get a plant in there and it gets really smelly during flower that could be an issue.
If I were in your shoes and really wanted to try and grow something right now and know what I do now I would try one plant---maybe even an autoflower so you don't have to mess with total darkness during flower. A decent light and some circulation you will surprised what you can do.

hps in the closet with no vent?? Have you not been paying attention? Lol the odor you need a carbon filter +inline fan. One of the good part about tents is you can use negative pressure inside of the tent that is inside of your closet so it makes it easier to contain smells. Then you pipe your exhaust from the filter fan to the closet door

so if I go with the tent and have my fan inside going to the duct with the carbon filter outside I should be good as long as I keep the closet door open?

600 hps is too much for a 4x2 even with a cool tube.

OP,

Sometimes, it's better to just wait until you have a more opportune time/place to set up a proper grow. As it is, you may end up creating a dangerous situation for yourself and possibly others....Plus, without all of the proper equipment, you may end up with a poor quality final product, anyway.

im relocating in a few months I’ll just keep my 600w light and wait. I didn’t know anything about air circulation until I created this thread.. now I know. Thanks all.

I’m doing a dry run of the light (no tent, light on closet rack) just to see how hot the closet would get… went from 62f and stabilizing at about 77f. Humidity went from 61 to 44.

Torture test it. Close the door. Put light on 100% Shit, even turn fans off and see what it’ll max out at. I did that at one point just to see the max temp I could keep with lights and no heater in unconditioned garage in the winter (0°-35°F)

no fan bro. I’m running it at 100% 600w door closed I have no fan running in the closet.

You’ll probably need/will benefit from one once you plant something. A light shake on plant from fan makes for better/stronger plant structure
