Closet Stealth Grow question

I have a very close friend of mine venturing into growing for the first time. I have a little experience growing myself, but I am still a little green. So im helping him plan his grow, and we cannot decide on a 150w HPS or a 400 HPS lamp. His grow space is 4*4*6. He will only be flowering 2-3 plants at a time in this space. Is it worth it to go up to the 400w? Or would it be more economical to go with the 150 for a grow this size? Thanks for the input.

Heat would be the only factor. A 150 just will not cover that kind of area well
Just go for an air cooled hood and vent it well and u b golden with the 400

Yea that is what I was thinking. He is looking to start small on a tight budget. My only concern is heat, but as I have never personally had my own grow with a 400w HPS, Im not quite sure what to expect. Would it be ok to veg under that light? He is getting CFL's for the seedling stage, so thats good. Thanks for the input.

You could veg with it but you are going to want to get a hortilux eye super hps. It has more blue light added to help keep em from stretching as much as a normal hps light....but they are not the cheapest bulb by any means.
Other option would be a MH conversion bulb in the hps ballast and swap em out when you switch to flower but those are even more money yet

to save money you can get the cheapo hps bulb and then circle your plants base with some 6500k CFL's. That would actually be more beneficial. THe Hortilux bulb is ~$80 while a 6 pack of 23W CFL's is ~$25
