Closet ventilation questions?

Hello! I'm in the process of building a 5x8 closet in my storage room15x8. My goal is to keep it a storage room but the back part will be my grow room. Just finished hanging drywall and installing the door. I'm so pumped about it because I'm not what you call a carpenter! I plan on building another short wall to partition off the veg area as well. So far i have a 400cfm 6" Active Air fan with a carbon scrubber, a 600w HPS with an 6" air cooled hood and CFL's for the veg area (T5 fixtures hopefully coming soon).
I plan to use a window AC in the storage room and pull that cool air into the grow room through a passive intake in the veg area. I will then pull all hot air through my scrubber, 600w hps, around a short bend and then down 10 feet of the smooth sheet metal air ducting to the outside. Will the fan that i have be enough for the scrubber and that extra ten feet of ducting? I went ahead and attatched a floorplan I drew up. Let me know what you think? Thanks!

Help, I'm new to this, I've been doing a lot of research but still can't find the answer to this one. Any info or suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

400CFM? yea you will be fine

but you might want to put your scrubber after the light so it has better airflow for cooling

How would i put the scrubber in between the fan and hood? Do you mean? : Scrubber>>>>>Hood>>>>>Fan>>>>>Exhaust Duct Out>>>>>

sorry, my fluid mechanics are rusty. Whether your pulling or pushing through it, the scrubber will slow the airflow by the same amount. Ignore my previous post.

You could add a second fan though and change the order to

Grow room >>>>> Cool Tube >>>>> Fan >>>>> Scrubber >>>>> Ducting >>>>> Fan >>>>> Exhaust

But you probably dont need to.

How would you go about putting the scrubber between the tube and the fan? I was thinking of adding a 6" duct booster fan at the end of the 10ft duct extension but will try it without first, going like this: Scrubber>>>Hood>>>Fan>>>>Duct Out.

My Can Filter is sealed on one end. I don't know how you'd do what you are saying.

Sorry, I dont understand. Smelly air goes in one end and "clean" air goes out the other. If its sealed on one end where does the "clean" air go?

lol - with the can filters the air goes in all around the can... and once inside is clean, then goes down the duct as normal...

felcher - i looked at your drawing and it looks straight - only thing is - the door to the mother rooms looks a little small - that will be some tight squeezes... you might consider a mother grow tent inside the main grow room... the tent is lightproof, so you could only access it when both veg and flower lights were on...

that will def work though... overall temperature will depend a lot on what the ambient temp in the storage space will be... but it should be suitable for some very decent plant life...

oh yeah - ideally, you would want to set it up like this:

||Can Filter >>> Fan >>> Light >> exhaust duct to garage

the reason why i say this, is because you only want negative pressure between the fan and the filter... after that the duct is positively pressurized... so if there is any air leaks in your ductwork or connections, CLEAN air will be leaking OUT of the duct, instead of SMELLY air leaking IN (if it were negatively pressurized)...

just a thought...

genius!

yea i looked up can filter later and felt stupid :(

Sorry it took so long to get back! It's been a busy week for me! Thanks for the help bloodshot and i really like your Veg tent suggestion. Building another wall and having another door would really cramp things any way. i wonder what a 3x3 tent would cost and what a good brand is? I'm glad to hear the fan i have should work. Do i need a controller for fan speed or will it be fine without? My other question would be about pushing through the light instead of having it pull through it and the filter. It sounds fine to me, i have just read mostly of people pulling through the light. The hood i'm upgrading to will either be a cool tube or a yield master II if that makes any difference.
