Marlowe if you cross the Corleone to the Corleone your will end up with basically the same thing you crossed it with, of course with the same possibilities for different phenotypes. Like the folks here have said it can be easy or hard. Breeding just to make seeds usually works out pretty good, and sometimes you run into something special along the way. I personally just started 3 Kandy Kush x Skunk regulars, and plan on harvesting the pollen from a male if I get one, just to cross with whatever I have going that is at the stage where it can be pollinated. Those are good genetics, and anything I cross it too should be good genetics so whatever the offspring will be, whatever direction they lean parent wise, will be a good plant. I would like to do the work and stabilize something but I really just dont have the space for a breeding program right now. Im not really looking for something new, just looking to have good seed stock. And if I end up with something special it can always be kept as a mother and cloned. Which is the fastest way to stabilize a strain, kind of, you just don't have seeds to plant of it.

Hey guys, how's things here at the Breeders Showcase? I haven't been here for a while but I've had some things simmering. I have my 2 Extrema Females that I'm going to dust with one of my males Then I have these Afghani. They were the 5 seeds I got along with the White Widow prize seeds I won, the freebies they normally give away. Thing is that they switched their freebies to Hash Plant at the time I won my prize. I emailed them to find out and they just emailed back the link from their site that they I had already seen that shows the prize as Afghani, so I'm guessing they banked the prizes before the contest.

Anyway, out on the 5 I got 3 males and 2 females, and so far eliminated 1 male. First I'm going to show you the girls and then I have to download the male shots and post them seperate. Not much of a Boy Scout was I. So the girls are beautiful and consist of one very Indica dominant leaves and stout and tighter build. The other has very large fingered leaves. I'll call them Sativa although I'm not sure that would be right because I wouldn't think you would get any kind of sativa in Afghan. Anyway she is quite a bit taller with spacier nodes.

Here is the thing. Out of the two males I almost have twins, or matching partners, that is to say that I have a taller spacier Sativa, and a shorter stouter Indica. But, in both the male and female examples, it's the sativa plants that are producing flower most vigorously, while the Indicas lag far behind in flowering, both female and male. So, what I'm asking out there, and I've kind of already made up my mind but I'd like to hear arguments first, is if you had to choose just one male which would you choose?

Looking forward to hearing your responses. P.S, I'm also planning on dusting these girls with some Extrema too, which I'm really excited about.

"Out of the two males I almost have twins, or matching partners, that is to say that I have a taller spacier Sativa, and a shorter stouter Indica"
so from you saying the sativa plants are growing faster, are they relatives of these males?

if you have an indica that is lagging behind the knee jerk reaction would be to throw that out, however I find that a lot of indica's, even though they seem to be slow pace, really start packing on the punch in the latter weeks. I think to get a true understanding of how the plants react and what ones to choose I would run a complete cycle. I am not a sativa expert though, lol.

it may be worth while since you are trying to hone the best of the best to keep the two males running. You can always off one and just keep a clone in veg util you are ready to use, etc, etc.

Sorry, just consfused things for you, hehe.

Hey D, as far as I know they're relatives, they came from the same pack. Let me clear it up. I have one of each sex for each pheno. Here are the males.

EDIT. I did take 2 clones from each female, that seem to be taking well.

Personaly, I don't really like the look of the tall one....not just because it's tall, the lower branching is pretty poor looking, I would expect a decent plant to have some strong side branching, even the SSHit I grew had some vigorous lower branching, that looks more like a ruderalis.

Well that brings me back to a question I posed earlier. Is it possible to have sativa in an afghani? They're supposed to be pure indica. Or is that type of leaf structure really indicative of indicas. (Wow this White Widow brings out some weird shit from my head). Am I somehow confused? Or maybe I just don't know what I have.

Actually they're like that because I just gave them a big feed and a nice spray down. A couple of hours later and they're all perked up again. Actually the pheno with the large fingered leaves come out that way. At first I thought something was wrong with them too but I learned that they come out looking like that, all wilted looking and curled in, but they eventually grow into themselves and make these big beautiful leaves. I know what a sativa is like, but I didn't think an indica could look so much like a sativa, seeing that Afghani's are supposed to be all indica.

This is my sativa that I'm just finishing. It's Jack Hammer from Sannies and is a cross of Sannies Jack (Herer) X Amnesia Haze. It's a 13 to 15 week finish.

Sorry dude, forgot to reply to ya. Thanks very much, glad you like them. Yes, it's Sannie's Extrema. I'm looking forward to trying them out. You might want to give me a bit of time before popping by. I haven't been there either and I'm planning on an update in the next day or two, just waiting on some newcomers to show. Good luck with the job.

OK, well seems to be confusion about what type of curling so I'll clear that up. So here's everyone all happy and healthy in their nice green organic home. The Afghani are the two lower middle. You can see the one long finger on the upper one curled in within itself. That is what I was talking about when I was talking about curling and how it's just characteristic of the plant and how it grows, or so I've learned. Sorry for any confusion.

i would be surprised if that plant was pure indica, possibly indica dominant. The leaves do seem to have like a star shaped spacing to the structure, however I have also seen long fingered leaves on kushes, and the dropping of the fan leaves like that seems common on them. So in otherwords, I don't think it's a pure Afghani indica.

Take it for what it is and see what she does I guess. Those leaves remind me of a plant you where growing recently D, I think it was your Romulan or Timewarp, maybe the cross you did, I'd have to look back. They sure are big as leaves though, like frickin palm trees in my tent! As far a picking a male, I decided to go with what you suggested, with the shorter male, but she got into it with my Mastiffs tail and he topped her clean above the third, couldn't have done better myself actually.

Thanks guys, Im happy with her too. Sunday will be week 13 but trichs are sayin that's too soon. I'm finding seeds on her where I didn't dust her though. Up on the main colas. Just the odd one here and there so far. They don't look like Jack Hammer seeds, they're large and black, and I think I know who the culprit may be. I think I may have learned a lesson about keeping males in the same room as your tent, even when it's in another closet, because I think this is what may have happened, but I have that solved now with my new refurbed fixture getting ready to fabricate and affix my little tent I'm doing for my males and such. Well, live and learn, but it sure is fun. :eyesmoke:
