Cmh veg

Could a 315 cover up to 4x4 in late veg? (reflective sheeting). Have also read the 3k bulb is better than the 4k for veg. Also wondering what brand bulb/reflector people would recommend.

Vert was also an option but given the physical pot circle diameter the light would be worse case 1.7-2foot from the surrounding canopy. Assuming that's way to far for a 315 but heat on a 630 would be too much. Perhaps that option is out.. although a stadium approach with horizontal 315 may work as a compromise?. Moved to flower under 1200w hps in a similar lay out.

Veg lights are not really as important. Only when talking about rate of growth and stature. I would find a 315 sufficient to veg in 4x4. I use to use mh and there's huge diff in node structure but I don't like them because they run so hot. But I could never spend that kinda money on veg lights.

I figured veg time was most important due to root development and structuring the canopy for max flower surface area. But none the less, 600hps runs too hot. 400mh was second choice but a 315 by all accounts runs similar heat or cooler with a better spectrum pushing it comparably to 500w, so it would seem fairer to compare it to that price of alternative wattage. None the less, it would appear to be under half the price of getting worthy LED to cover a similar foot print. T5 suffer penetration limitation on longer veg times but also need double units for foot print. I also don't like the thought of the extra heating/lower temp that would likely be pushed using led/cfl in winter. At that point, it would appear more cost effective mid/long term to buy and use another 315 for both heating and light. Especially if that air can be vented to the flower room to also maintain temps there.
