Co2 systems

Effectiveness of co2 systems? Are they worth the money for smaller grow rooms up to 5 plants? Advantages/disadvantages besides the obvious, cheers

Before considering Co2 you should look to maximise your current area.

If you're not pulling dry bud in the same range as your lighting eg 400w-400g, 600w-600g etc then Co2 isn't worth looking at as there are changes and techniques you can make adjustments too to up your yield.

On average though a fully sealed room running AC and Co2 can average about 20%-30% more yield than a standard intake exhaust grow room setup.

In order to make full use of a Co2 system you need to air seal your room, be able to control temps between 16C and 30C, use a Co2 monitor and controller, otherwise you'll be wasting Co2 as it gets exhausted from a standard grow setup.

No worries.

Some little tips for you.

Leaf health plays a vital role in yield. Green leaves = healthy well performing plants.

Environmental control.
Air IN. Air OUT. Temperatures and air circulation.

Don't be tempted to cut out N during flower. I currently use 5-4-3 NPK but have used 6-3-8 start to finish.

Bloom boosters can work pretty well if using it at the right time. If you are unsure when to properly use a booster just leave them out. A balanced nutrient profile will not require addition boosters.

Biggest nutrients that make a difference to my grows besides the base formula. Calcium and magnesium in mono form.

In 5 years of growing I haven't felt the need to invest in Co2.

Its only in the last 2.5years that I've really started hitting big numbers as far as yield goes.

Try your hand at different forms of plant training. Topping. LST. Supercrop. Mainline.

Don't be afraid to prune growth that's outside of your usable lighting penetration.

Look into the inverse square law of artificial lighting to see how quickly light generated from HID's deminishes the further away from the lamp you get.

Train your plants to maximise the usage of the lighting you've chosen.

Genetics.
Try your hand with proven genetics.

DINAFEM critical+ is a pretty decent yielder.

HSO blue dream is a decent yielder.

Change one thing per grow to see whether it works better or worse than before.

And here's a little picture to keep you interested.

DELICIOUS SEEDS CARAMELO 4 headed mainline.

Harvested on Thursday after 59 days of 12.12.
