COB color temps: (3000K + 4000K)/2 = 3500K?

I asked Digikey if they were gonna stock any of the 3500K in the D configuration. Their response:

"The two parts we have in our system BXRC-35E10K0-D-72 and BXRC-35E10K0-D-73 in the Gen 7 Vero 29 series are both non-stocking parts for us. So unfortunately we will not be ordering stock to keep on hand in our warehouse."

Oh how nice it would be to get those COBs. This is what I'm looking at on Digikey:



So, this question goes out to everyone on RIU: which of you are down to pool some serious $$$ to someone you don't know so we can buy 50 COBs???

You would probably only need like.. something like 3 T1-V196 fixtures from Tasty or a similar build, using only that much space. I grow with three in a 4x2 closet, but with each light being able to flower an 18"x18", that's 4.5x4.5 feet. DIY would make it more palatable to lie down the money for.

For the record, COB series in question is the Bridgelux Vero 29 Gen 7

Very strange. Maybe talk to @Rahz. I'm pretty happy with mine. I would say "Don't stop at Digikey. They're apparently lame and don't know what cool looks like." :-P Only kidding.

I wasn't either. I was just saying I think CMH is another viable/acceptable lighting option.

The "L" on the end means it's the older generation. The newer gen has a B, C, or D on the end (maybe another letter--I don't remember.)

I would say personally that it isn't big enough. Not really appropriate for a COB. But I couldn't say for sure. I have a pretty large fan and heat sink.

I don't know what D variants they list or stock, but I would suggest looking at the C variant.

Also, full cycle can be done with 3000K alone.

I liked the idea of getting the C variant, but Digikey doesn't stock it! :-/

It depends on the drive current, but I think most CPU coolers would handle 80 watt cobs or less... keep in mind I've never used cobs with CPU coolers so I'm not the best person to ask.
