cobs vs leds

i was all set to build a grow light similar to the kind k4, ie with separate light spectrum leds, and i started seeing cob grow lights. i have a question regarding these two types of led grow lights. i kinda liked the fact that with the leds you could control each color individually, and i haven't seen as anywhere that you can do that with cobs. and it looks like the things to do now is cobs as most diy grow lights i've seen lately are using them. any assistance appreciated!

tl/dr-is there a benefit to using the cobs vs the separate spectrum leds? also if you have a pros/cons breakdown comparatively.

I am in same hole bro , I was finally ready to spends some money on red blue and couple different wavelengths to build for 6sqft but then I saw cobs and finding a quality one in my country is not possible
Do u think any cob would do better then bunch of red and blues ?

I was thinking same
For 6 sqft
2 3000k cob + 60 red +30 blue + 5 warm white + 5 cool white
But ok I will connect 50 red in one driver and other 50 diodes on another- how I am gonna pick the driver still cant figure out

i get you with using both, but aren't cobs supposed to completely replace single spectrum leds? i'm just wondering if anyones done the research on this and if so i'd like to see it. i want to build a dope ass grow light(s) and want it to be as efficient as possible.

I also understand you, you have one shot like me I do not know if it is gonna be your first but definetely will be my first , i am mindfucked all the technologies all shit out there everyone make experiments and calculations but its a emerging tech and as a stoner we have deep mind which can go in every deep ruin and take something meaningful out from there ... Bro there have been lots of mono leds grow light provider working for years and cobs are there for years, i dont now why suddenly crees fuking cobs got famous...
Anyways Im gonna use at least two cheap cob 3000k additive to my mono leds(60hyperred 30deepblue)

meanwell lpc-35-700 for the 700ma leds and the lpc-60-1000 for the 1000ma leds. each takes about a dozen or you can get a meanwell SE-350-48 and use a LDD-H6 to drive the leds and use a 5dc power supply (wart) to turn on/off leds. peace

What kind of black box are those framed on?
that is a set of black heat sinks 5.88" x 18" heatsinksusa, painted by me with high temp flat black paint. bolted together to form a frame. I mount other rails of leds to the main cob from the sides, like the Dep reds, and IR are bars mounted to the rig, while the Far Red are part of the rig. peace.

use both. I use cree COB's and 3W leds for blue, and red needs. Royal Blue for veg, Deep Red, IR, and Far Red for bloom. peace
I ended up making this into two lights because I decided not to use a larger tent, but went with two smaller tents 2-2x2 instead of 1-3x3. One for veg one for bloom, same ppfd, put the royal blue on the removed unit, and added another bar so i had two rigs with two bars and four cobs. 12-RB, 12-DR, 15-FR, 12-IR. peace
