coco coir and watering?

Do you need a drip system to use coco coir? Or can I water it every day and let it sit in the run off assuming the roots would stretch to the bottom for water? I plan on doing a basic SOG method just buying 12 plants veg for 2 weeks and flower. Im running a 400w in a small tent it gets to around 87 some days but i figure w the lights off 12 hours they will be fine

can sit in the run off, hand watering is fine......sitting in the run off will give salt build up so every so ofte. its good to feed with plenty of run off but get rid of it rsther than let then sit in it...n yeah the roots will go for it

Anyone? I dont understand if I let 12 sit in a pan n water them let them sit in run off with the nutes... will I have to water it constantly with water containing nutes? If I keep adding water every day wont it dilute the nutes? How long can they sit in the same water and how high should i have the water in the pan? It gets very hot when my lights are on so im not sure how that would affect it having to water so often?

yeah probs best to feed half strength nutes each time.because with evaporation the nute to water ratio will get stronger over.time. i think maybe a week sitting in water and then.hand water fron the top when you empty the pan out so also nve a.week....then see.how it goes and adjust.your pattern.if.you need.to

your ph is also.likely to.change....(ph of the water the plant sits in)so gd idea to check this regularly and make sure.its.in.range

Def don't want to let those plants sit in their run off. Coco needs to stay moist at all times it's not dirt, when u do water u can feed every time just make sure you have good runoff.

autopots use trays that allow the plabt to wick up water as the coco dries out, essentially keeping it as moist as necessary, when.watering from above i drain a lot of the run off then let the last bit collect in the tray....no real issues as long as you do a water only (right ph) flush every now and then to get rid of salt build ups
