never heard this before but it make sense! another good reason to get myself co2 installed. but do you get automated timers that goes that high with just a push of a button or do you have to calculate and do the math first? or just crank the valve and watch the sensor?

I have a Atlas 1 Co2 controller by Titan, its light sensitive and plugs into the regulator. Its basically plug and play. It only turns on during lights on. And yes its two buttons one to set your PPM higher and one to set them lower no math needed.

Hi, new to coco (and this site) any advice when the right time is to us PK13/14, is it 3 weeks into flower or 3 weeks before crop? any advice would be appreciated... peace from the uk :blsmoke:

Hi goagone

Canna says on the bottle use the pk 1st site of flowers for a week, with me thats been around week 2 , but i use it the 3rd week startin low and builin up to full strenth over 2 weeks, then i use another pk later on in flower, a lot of people use it at different times though mate some like week 4-5 and a little later too,
Ive found though usin it early you dont get that stage when the plant slowly stops growin an starts consentraitin on the buds more, like a standstill for a week. it just gets stright on with it to the 1st swell if you no what i mean or does for me anyway, i'd get a few opinions tho mate cos theres a lot on the pk13/14

hey im pretty new to the site and had a question about my plants growing in coco. currently my buddy and i are running a rez to waste drip system, automated by a rain bird* timer to water every other day early in the light cycle (3 am). my buddy left the rain bird on during their day off of watering. they were given plain RO water at beginning of week 3 flower, then a feed two days later, then plain RO the day after (on accident). Basically, I'm wondering if there's anything in particular i need to do to help my plants recover, since i heard when u flush coco u strip the plant of its nutrients. I'm worried they've been flushed out too much.

by the way lan they are some super sick buds man....i would love to sink a few of them no doubt.. my plants have problems and i have no idea what it is...my temps are constant 75 every day and 60-65 at night. humidty is always between 40-55% feed every few days with a ec of .9 and a ph of 6. growing in coco not sure what else i can say...i cant figure this out. oldest plant nearly 1month

yeah i would say cal mag since coco is low in those dept.'s, or lower the ppm (or ec, in ur case), maybe a little nutrient burn on those tips.

no im not using a cal/mag sup but i think its about time i at least buy it and give it a shot to see if my beautys come back to me

Jame your plants look just fine, other then some very minor burn.

You DO NOT have a Ca/Mg deficiency. You wont see this happen very often in Veg, but mainly in flower.

You dont say what nutes you are using? Point being most coco specific nutes are made with Ca and Mg levels in mind. Calcium and Magnesium both occur naturally in Coco. And bind to it much more then people think.

Cal-mg supplements can go quite along way in coco. I use cns17, It has levels designed for coco, therefor I rarely use Cal/mg. Instead, since Cns17 lacks on Mg slightly. I jsut mix epsom salts with my water in the 4th week of flower.

I can promise you, you dont have Ca/mg def. Dont go giving those plants alot of cal mag....you will only screw things up.

hhmm i see, so what would be casuing the "eagle claw" and the different shades of green in the leaves, and the changing colour on the fat (inside of the leaf) part?? im also using a specific nute regime for coco from nutrfield..

just out of curiosity lambofgod, where did you hear/learn that calcium and magnesium naturally occur in coco? I am almost 100% sure that calmag deficiencies are one of the most common when using coco. So if you have substantiated evidence, I would be really interested in seeing the facts.

i have never used coco before and i have a question that i can just put coco soil in the pots that i like and no need to put other soils to mix it or i have to use with other quality mixes or its just for HYDRO growing ???

Yes thats why I recommend pre charging your coco I take my coco chips and rinse all the salt out of them and then pre charge them with Liquid Karma and General Organics Cal/Mag. Let them marinate in that shit for 24 hours and you shouldnt ever have to worry about Cal/Mag issues or adding it to your res.

You should use 100% coco and look for Coco specific nutes not hydro nutrients. House And Garden coco nutes = Super Unleaded Gas , Canna Coco Nutes = Unleaded both very good coco nutrients.

read that, although a small plug for AN it points out some basic facts about coco.

Magnesium (Mg)
Magnesium is a component of the chlorophyll molecule and serves as a cofactor in most enzymes.
Magnesium (Mg) deficiency:
Magnesium deficiency will exhibit a yellowing (which may turn brown) and interveinal chlorosis beginning in the older leaves. The older leaves will be the first to develop interveinal chlorosis. Starting at leaf margin or tip and progressing inward between the veins. Notice how the veins remain somewhat green though as can be seen in figure 15.
Notice how in figure 16 and 17 the leaves curl upwards like they're praying? They're praying for Mg! The tips may also twist.
This can be quickly resolved by watering with 1 tablespoon Epsom salts/gallon of water. Until you can correct nutrient lockout, try foliar feeding. That way the plants get all the nitrogen and Mg they need. The plants can be foliar feed at ½ teaspoon/quart of Epsom salts (first powdered and dissolved in some hot water). When mixing up soil, use 2 teaspoon dolomite lime per gallon of soil.
If the starting water is above 200 ppm, that is pretty hard water, that will lock out mg with all of the calcium in the water. Either add a 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of epsom salts or lime (both will effectively reduce the lockout or invest into a reverse osmosis water filter.
Mg can get locked-up by too much Ca, Cl or ammonium nitrogen. Don't overdo Mg or you'll lock up other nutrients.

Calcium (Ca)
Calcium plays an important role in maintaining cell integrity and membrane permeability.

Calcium Deficiency:
Young leaves are affected first and become small and distorted or chlorotic with irregular margins, spotting or necrotic areas. Bud development is inhibited, blossom end rot and internal decay may also occur and root may be under developed or die back. Deficiency will cause leaf tip die-back, leaf tip curl and marginal necrosis and chlorosis primarily in younger leaves. Symptoms: young leaves develop chlorosis and distortion such as crinkling, dwarfing, developing a strap-like shape, shoots stop growing and thicken.

also leathery looking appearance to leafs is a sign of over N fert.

I do the same thing, although I buy pre flushed coco, I always flush with a ph'd grow mixture. I use botanicare's cns17 trio, the grow has enough Ca but seems to lack on the Mg, a lil epsom salts and shes good to go.
