i guess we all have our ways and probably they all work but in the time ive used coco ive never flushed with plain water and my plants always do well, i know peeps who hardly give any run off and some who bottom feed......i reckon 20-25 is a bit over the top though just wasting nutes .............and i feed every other day when established so nothing is sitting in the pot for long like soil....or more if there is a need.........i also feed from the start .......
I think you are right about the 20% being a bit excessive and a waste of nutes. Im due a water later today and will try and go for a bit less! As long as the ladies are getting what they need and not showing excessive signs of nute burn or deficiency thats all im concerned about!

I do have a question though! I am growing just using Canna coco A and B, Rhyz and Cannazym. I have never used any boost products and im just curious as to whether you think it would be worth investing in some now (my hydro shop stock Canna Boost, Advanced Nutrients Big Bud, Dutchmasters Explode) as I have just put a few plants into the flowering room?

O should I wait for a few grows under my belt until I start playing with boosts?

Thank you :)

I run 100% coco in hempy buckets with top drip feeders, I've had great success using DNF nutrients (dutch nutrient formula) I supplement with Calmax and Diamond Nectar. Recently I've been adding worm casting tea to see if I can improve resistance to a powdery mildew problem I've been experiencing.

I'm currently refitting my gardens with the "Netafim" irrigation system. This system uses a pressure regulator after the pump to ensure a 40 psi max delivery of nutes, the feed stakes I have at my access are 3 liter/hour regulated drippers so it will be very easy to dial in my feed schedule once I've completed my renovations. My feed stakes are 4way stakes.. so I put 2 feed lines from each regulator into a plant... then put the remaining 2 into the next plant in line... this way if one dripper regulator fouls up I still have nutes being delivered (redundancy is a wonderful thing just ask NASA!).

I'm finally going to set up my CO2 generator again, I've had it for quite a while now but haven't used it the last couple of grows... my controller is toast (a "friend" knocked it off the wall and fucked it up :( ) so I'll be running on a timer till I can afford a new one.

i really dont understand this flushing...........if you nute each time with run off you are pushing the old stuff out........there is no need to flush with plain water unless you fuck up
A lot of people flush because synthetic nutes have salt in them and if you get too much salt build up in your nutes you then run into " PH Lock out " complicating things. I rarely flush because of the nutes I use. I use House and Garden and one of the additives is " Drip Clean" which is basically for salt build up clogging up your drip lines also helps break down salts in your medium/roots. You have probably never encountered salt build up because you probably use good nutrients.

Invest into a Sulfur Burner for powdery mildew.. Those tin cans you see hanging in indoor gardens.

you ever use that canna organic ph down?
I havent. We only have one Canna dealer in AZ, I do use Canna Coco coir but I been using that big ol' blue bottle of GH PH up because my House and Garden nutes have PH buffers that bring my PH down to 3.5 in a 30 gallon res (rarely use PH down) . I been using it so long I pretty much can guess-timate how much to use and my readings will always be 5.8-6.3

good to hear, i know lots of peeps say no to nutes in coco from day 1 but the way i see it is compost has nutes from the start and it does the plants no harm so there really isnt any harm using nutes from germination when using coco....
hey, thx for your input man. I was thinking that too, but was advised to hold off on nutes. it's hard to get info, because a lot of the time I feel I may be getting recommendations for soil. I cheaped out, and got miracle grow all purpose liquid, and use it at half strength so it ends up being 6-2-4. gave them about 1/3 tbsp in 4L of water and they seem okay so far. except that yellow guy is almost completely a lemon yellow color. so my suspicion is shock, or maybe N def?

as for the other guy who has tips that went yellow then brown...the new growth all looks fine, so im just trying to ignore them. his tips look like the yellow guys, and are on the same leaf set, but smaller brown area.

Very nice indeed mate, I have been giving your 12-12 from seed forum a good look at and I am very impressed!

I might consider giving hesi a go once my current supply of canna has finished!

I would like to get it all "dialed in" like you Beavrhunter says, but absolutely loving learning :D

I grow in coco and the only advice I could give for seedling growth is to not put it in a pot so soon. 100% coco coir is like a sponge and retains water really well so all this water is in your coco/pot with no roots to drink up the water. Every cutting or seedling I get is grown in a plastic Solo drinking cup with a few holes punched on the sides or bottoms for drainage. A lot of people say " you cant over water in coco " and you really cant unless its a seedling.. Next time after you germ try transplanting to a small container say about the size of a solo plastic drinking cup..

Hey del and bvr huntr the for your tips. Im off to pick some ph testing stuff and some perlite today and next time ill use smaller pots for sure. The bottom of my pots stay wet even when its really light, so i think ur right about retaining water that isny being used.
