you can start your seeds in regular pots if you want, just go with a small size so you dont waste nute water filling a large pot that doesnt have roots. you can just put the coco in like any other medium, no need to pack it. when you water it will compact itself. most people do within an inch for there seeds, i go by about past my finger nail. good luck.

Cal-mag is a product from botanicare. Its a calcium, magnesium and iron supplement.

hi all i been growingfor about 3weeks now first time, growing in coco indoors under 400watt hps can i post picks of my plants here and get some feed back on them? and also run through some questions on nutes aswell. thanks for your time

yes you can! more than welcome to do so.
Not only is this my 1st grow, I'm using coco and clay balls. I was planning to plant seeds in peat cups. I did buy some small plastic cups with slots on the side, I was afraid that those cups might be too small for proper root development. Please advise, I want to plant today.
Also, how tightly do I pack coco in whichever pot I start in. Also, should I use the clay balls in the container I plant my seeds in.or wait till I transplant into 10" pots for duration.

The guy at the hydroponic store says that when watering (in 10") to water till I collect 20% run off? What do you think.

tuccci i already answered a few of these questions. i use like 1.5 inch square pots for my seeds and they do just fine. you just need enough coco for them to grow the first week to two weeks then you can transplant. this way your not wasting water. pics of your pots your thinking of using would be helpful. you just put the coco in with no packing and the let the water compress it. whats the point of using the hydroton? i know a guy who uses them at the top of the pots but i dont think he mixes them in. i wouldnt use them quite yet. one seed per pot, if it dont sprout pop another in there. plant them about first nuckle deep or just past your finger nail. 20% run off is a good ratio that many of us shoot for. just water your seedlings with enough to have a bit of run off.
Harvested mine the other day. Had no idea how much work it would be and I swear I was high as a kite doing it. It took me 12 hours with a few short breaks inbetween.
Managed to half fill 4 large cardboard boxes, but got so much I dont have any hanging space so it's led out on cardboard inside the veg tent with air flowing through and im turning it over every few hours to help it dry evenly. Scroggsy.

Has anyone on here ever used coco-dan croutons? I am having trouble finding coco croutons in my area and this is what i found online.

looks good scrog!!! looks like it may fluff up a bit but i hope you get what your shotting for. let us know what your final dry weight is. those scrog is looking real good as well. when you switching over to flower? did you decide on how much to irrigate each time?
Well if I get 12 ill be happy anyway. Yeah with the Scrog net set up its looking much neater this time, all uniform height as topped and LST'd so no out of control growth this time. Im gonna take clones and lollypop as soon as this harvest is dry so I can get my veg tent back in action then ill flip these 12/12. As for irrigation these 6 have just been repotted to 10l so up to now ive just kind of manually operated the pump to time how long it takes to get runoff for now to give me an idea of where to start. Also ive got an EC truncheon this time to test runoff ec so that I can adjust irrigation accordingly. Scroggsy.

del- everything looks real good! i wanna see a pic of your entire grow. we always just get the tub pics but i want to see it all! unless that is all of it haha. those bubble bomb have very nice growth!
scrogg- i really like that idea of manually running it to see how much you would need to irrigate! should be a good run so keep us posted on it, weekly update will be nice haha.

im growing under a 400wat hps. this plant is 11days old now, growing in coco husks, i have no idea whats wrong with my plant, i have started feeding fert as well at a lower dose. my other plant is starting to develop symptoms of yellowing and purplish/brownish stems

james- what nutes are you using at what rate? whats the suggested rate? did you pre buffer the coco or did it come pre buffered? how hot is it in the grow room? how close is the light? i cant see much wrong with it from the pics.

im using nutrifield gorw a and b. im using 13.5ml of each every 2 days. the suggested rate is 25ml of each per 10ltrs. but im using 2.5lts per plant. i think the coco came pre buffered. the grow room sits on 78-83deg far during the day. and goes down to 62far at night. the light is 30cm away from the plants. the smaller plant, so you dont think there is anything wrong with the plants?? they are yellowing and the stems are getting a brownish/purplish colour. the growth on the bubble cheese has been somewhat slow and has a slight powder like coating on the leaves.

the powder could be powdery mildew which can be taken care of with a spray down of need oil or greencure(better choice if you can get). the light seems a pretty good distance but may go up a tiny bit higher, though you wouldnt be seeing yellowing if it was too close, you would see burning which isnt the case. the temps are good. if its nutrifield coco then it is pre buffered, i use the same stuff. IMO that seems like a fairly high amount of nutes for such a young seedling but that would also cause some burning if that was the case. im curious to how big your pots are, for such young plants that seems like a high amount of water to be running through such a young root system. is that ratio you posted for seedlings or veg? i would say something may be wrong if growth has slowed and there is yellowing.
