Coconut water

Anyone out there feeding with coconut water? Read some great stuff on it and tried it out this week with Harmless Harvest and plants seem to be loving it. Could be a coincidence but growth seemed to increase greatly.

just curious if anyone else includes this in their normal routine.

There is already a thread for this topic.

THE COMPOSITION OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS IN COCONUT (COCOS NUCIFERA L.) WATER

Abstract
"Coconut water or coconut liquid endosperm is a refreshing beverage, which provides important health benefits. The chemical components which contribute to its bioactivity are essential to the plant industry, biotechnology and biomedical fields. As coconut water contains many known and uncharacterized plant growth regulators (PGRs or phytohormones), it is traditionally used as a growth supplement in plant tissue culture/micropropagation. Using a variety of analytical techniques, we have found cytokinins (isoprenoid and aromatic types), auxins, gibberellins, and abscisic acid in coconut water. A list of PGRs found in coconut water has been compiled on the basis of literature survey and our own data. An extension of this study is in progress in our laboratories to characterize the potential occurrence of the other PGRs, like brassinosteroids, jasmonates and strigolactones in coconut water. We are also trying to understand the variability in PGR compositions in coconuts collected from different geographical locations and coconut cultivars/varieties. Anecdotal evidence indicates that variability in PGR composition of coconut water may limit its widespread use in the plant tissue culture industry. Undoubtedly, cytokinins are currently the most important components in coconut water. Significant advances have been made in understanding the biological functions of various cytokinins in both plant and human systems. The recent discovery of other medicinal values of coconut water signifies a good potential in improving human health. Better insights and understanding of the functions and properties of the individual components of coconut water will, therefore, help us to better utilize this marvellous and multi-dimensional liquid with special biological properties from nature."
