Does a cola refer to the top of a marijauna plant, buds or not? Or does it refer only to the large chunk of buds that eventually form at the top?

For example, if I had a plant still in veg, would it make since to say "The cola is reaching close to the light"?

I think I know what you are asking. IMO a plant can have many cola's. I would say "check out the main cola" if I was talking about the large one at the top... LOL

yeah, several tops is fine, i am just wondering whether they need to have buds present to be called colas.

I would say without any buds it cant really be called a cola. It is just the main growth shoot during veg. Once it starts packing on bud it can rightfully be called a cola. I have never really heard a person refer to the top of a vegging plant as a cola. Just my opinion but I think most people would agree. I cant imagine anyone looking at a plant a month into veg and saying; " wow look at the sweet cola on that plant" lol.
