I noticed about 6 weeks into flower that my colas were not round. What should be the very top looks like three separate tops growing in different directions. Instead of a cone it looks like three tops grwoing outward and upward.

I apologize, I have no pics as of now but will post them later.

Anyone know what this may be? OTher than that everything looks great and has been very healty.

Most are DNA Cannadential and some are mango-afghani.

Post pics it sounds like they might be foxtailing.
how close are they to the light?
What kind of light are you using?
What kind of cooling do you have for your grow room?
What are the temps/humidity levels in the room?

Post some pics and i can see if i can help you further.

If the new growth looks like braided rope..it's fox tailing on you.

Either genetics ( sativas are famous for this ) or it's heat.

Raising lights, improving air flow should help to stop it.

Due to heat wave where I live I have to put my HPS lights on a rotating schedule. One comes on for 4 hours..goes off..next one turns on..etc. I do have 8 200 w CFLs that are on all the time during the 12 hour s though.

Some days I just run the CFLs and give my plants a short respite.

Glad I only have 2 weeks left...they were starting to fox tail due to heat problems.

I will post them as soon as I get there.
They are about a foot from the light.
1000watt HPS
Fully vented, intake and outtake
Temp is running about 66-75
Humidity has been around 50-60%

We had a stupid heat wave that did cause my temp and humidity to go up for about a week. Then drop again. Would that do it?

So this isn't a bad thing? man I have been wrecking my brain trying to figure out what it is. I'm quite relieved! Harvesting this weekend.

Yes...even a couple of days especially in late harvest would do it.

It is stoppable from getting worse. You don't want it to continue as it will produce fluffier buds and is a pain to trim. The potency doesn't change much though.

If it mostly apparent on top colas, it is heat stress related.

Your lucky...I'm looking at another 2 to 3 weeks for mine and this less light deal is doing them no favors. But I have no way to lower the temps with all the lights going.
It's supposed to be mid 50s and rainy this time of year....but no it's already up to the 80s and nothing but sun !

I only do 2 grows a winter...and this last one is killing me with the heat.

No, it's not a bad " bad " thing. Just not desirable.

If they are not too big I just cut them off while trimming. Make hash or something.

Now there is a difference between foxtailing ( braiding ) and pine coning ( calyx swelling ...bud looks like a pinecone or pineapple )

Stopping it from proceeding is a must as fluffly hard to trim buds just plain suck...but since your harvesting soon.
