Well I haven't got it all set up yet but Im going to potentially be growing in new england area and it gets fucking cold! I want to pump air in from the outside during the winter months but I was wondering if there was a way to heat up this air before it gets into the box, is there any way to do this? Im going to be using a single 600w hps so will I need to heat it up or will the light heat up the box enough? merr

But really I'd get ya box up and running then check the temps and make it right from there.

You might find that the cold air mixing with warmer air from the 600w makes for suitable temps

How big is the box? What lights are you going to use? And there are temp switches that you can set to turn on your fan when it gets hot. Sucking in the cold air. But to be honest unless your box isn't in the freeze. You most likely will not get to cold.

Why would you want to do that? No, just run that cold ass air into the box and cool of that light. Unless you're growing in a freezer you should be fine. HID lights make shit tons of heat, the colder the incoming air the better IMO. I catch hell trying to cool off a 400w in summer months. It's not much easier in the winter time.

I wish I had that problem! I spend all my time trying to cool things off. These guys know what they're talking about!

In the winter I have 6inch of snow or more. Cool my lights with outside air and my AC still runs about the same as summer.

1. Can you pump in air from the house instead?
2. put ballast, humidifier/dehumidifier in the tent
3. lights on during night?

Its going to be 3.5X3.5X6.5 ish And I could pump air in from the house instead, its going to be in the basement though and i figured that pumping fresh air in might help better, but yeah I guess im going to actually have to wait till winter to figure that out it. although it does get pretty cold in the basement in the winter so we'll see, will probably be reposting then hahah

Alternatively I could pump the air into a vent close to the top next to the light and it will heat up the air before its pushed downwards towards the plants and out the bottom vent?

i actually had a similar problem when i was starting my seeding the temp was too low (22°c) with the fluorescents so i threw a little space heater in on the lowest setting and now my temps are around 28°c so i'm happy. hopefully when I replace the heater with my 600w hps it stays between the 25-28°c range. (before you say it will take it up more than 6°c remember that when im starting my seeds i dont have my fan running or anything, once i switch to hps i will)
