College Degree

^^Yup, that's what my buddy is doing. Actual Environmental Law but he says he's going to do other stuff on the side for his buddies.

I would say if you are gonna be in the business you would have a business degree..... i would say a hospitality degree would also help out since most of the clubs have no customer service skills whatsoever and the ones that do are making bank... You would hire an attorney so no law degree necessary...

Probably should have said what you wanted to DO in the marijuana industry....

Farm? Breed? Genetics? Law? Business? etc?

A law degree isn't really going to be of much use, as 99.99% of the time you would hire a lawyer and not represent yourself should you face any charges or have problems with the law regarding MJ (especially if youre a fresh grad and lack the experience)

If you want to grow: Botany
If you want to run a dispensary: Business
If you want to be an activist: Law/political science
Pretty much any job in the MMJ industry has roots in those 4 majors.

For a medical grower the quickest and most educational degree would be an AS in Horticulture. They offer that at my local community college, and although I don't plan of pursuing that degree any time soon, I have taken a few of those classes years ago. Really very very helpful stuff there.

Unless you are doing some real high level stuff or breeding a botany degree will be largely useless. You have to take basic botany with a horticulture degree anyway.

Unless you are going for business, engineering, or something in the medical field college is a waste of money.

Trust me, I got 2 expensive pieces of paper hanging on my wall and not much to show for it. I have an OK job but it had nothing to do with college.

its all about the experience haha im jk...god i hope im not wasting my time :/ 2 years in already

I'd also say law but a horticulture, ecology, biology, geology, and chem degree would also help. Look at some of Davis' programs, they are one of the top Ag schools and offer majors like "Environmental Horticulture." (growing flowers indoors with high tech gadgets)

The experience is part of it. Even though I'm a litle bitter about it all I wouldn't take it back, I'd just would have gone for something else.

What college degree would be the best fit (for learning) about cannabis genetics or breeding cannabis? Or something on the science side of things. Thanks

You don't need a degree to grow good mary jane

You may not need one. But you can bet your ass it will help your case immensely when it comes to getting a job. As the industry becomes legitimized, relevant educational backgrounds becomes more important. It won't be long until you will need that degree to get a job as a grower.
