College textbooks are gonna bankrupt me

Yah I remember the first time I got hit with the price of textbooks. Whats really fun is when you shell out for a textbook and then the professor tells you the textbook wont be used the first day of class. Never-mind emailing ahead of time.

Here this comic takes the sting off it (but is aimed more at postgrads)

One thing a few of my teachers tried to drum into me, was that during your first couple of days at college, don't waste them getting all fucked up, go and find the 2nd year folk and buy their books off them, there are often book sales set up specifically, they can also come pre-annotated :p college/uni books are ridiculously expensive, i don't get it.

that's not that bad. you should look into, gasps, PHOTOCOPYING.

yeah it's illegal ............... who cares.. lol...

i did it at a public library late at night... sometimes they'd have people making sure you weren't photocopying textbooks... lol... you'd be amazed how good you get at guestimating exactly how much to shrink pages and exactly how to place the book.... it doesn't take long to do 15 chapters.... lol....

I find the pdf Books very inefficient... usually the pages of the pdf dont line up with the actual book pages, so your constantly having to search for the right page, figures sometimes will be placed on other pages, so say your reading "blah blah blah, refer to figure 32 A." you end up having to scroll down three pages then back to the page you were on...
Yup, I lost a textbook and had to download it. Constant up and down with pages, always getting lost and confused. I ended up finding the book a week or two later but it still sucked. Forget the laptop and buy all of your books first.

Just go find a job already, you would be able to buy those books in a week.

Yeah I know, I'm just saying if you got a job after a week or two you could buy the books AND the laptop you want.

What kind of places have you applied to so far? Have any of them given you an interview?

Bullshit, my mom is a big woman and she waitressed all her life. which is sad considering she was an ace in college and has degrees in business and shit.

Don't buy any books from the college book store. That shit is a racket. And just because the class outline says the book is required does not mean you'll have to have it to get through. There are lots of ways you can find out about particular professors and former students are a wealth of information. Always research the professors because who is teaching the class will make a huge difference in your grades.

I bought maybe half of the textbooks that were "required" and was fine most of the time.

Don't go to college and get a job doing real work, people need their cars fixed and their houses fixed people need their trash emptied they don't need someone with a degree to do it.
